home same as you!
980 has wx and no wideband and this ,,new,, grant2 has wideband but no wx!
ok its a euro market radio but come on president!
yeticom site suggests made in france not china
comments on topic please!

Scared me at first I thought there was a problem when I read the headline.

no i just feel let down they cant bring out a compact ssb rig with wx yet they fit in in the 980 (except for the midland 79 290)
if it had wx i would walk in and buy one

and i dont see the point in spending ,,grant 2 ,, money when you could get a used dx70 or 706 icom

!

We don't have WX in Europe and its not targeted at the USA so why would they put in WX? What would be the point in wasting money putting in something which is of absolutely no use at all in any way, shape or form where you're going to sell it?

And how would you "walk in and buy one" when it isn't legal to sell them in the USA?

I've heard of some stupid complaints but this takes the biscuit.

Not having a WX channel in Europe when we want to know what the weather is we just look out the window.

What are the advantages to the WX channel? Is it any better than just having a weather app on your smartphone?

Buy a weatheradio then if you want the weather. As stated. These radios are not marketed or intended for North American markets so why bother with the features. Im quite content with the radio so far.

How sensitive is the screen as far as scratching it? The 980 scratches if you wipe dust off of it.

I'm sorry to say it......but what a dumb complaint,
It's like saying you bought a Jaguar car in England and then complain that the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
As Connor says we don't have WX channels on radios in Europe
I have just received a Cobra radio from the States with WX channels on it.
There no good here, just a waste of a button.

Again in the UK you can't buy an Icom IC706G for £180
For the aledged quote on the Yeticom site........when was the last radio you know of made in France....how about never!
All radios are made in the Far East and this is Made in Vietnam:whistle: not China .

You could buy some adhesive clear protective film to go on the display. When it gets scratched up just replace the film with new film. I do that to my portable LCD tv.

"Manufactor: President Electronics France" made in Vietnam for President Electronics France more like it. Wx is as useless as tits on a bull here to, But people still advertise them as if its a special selling point.:headbang:headbang:headbang.

Weather reception has never been a selling point for me. It can be convenient at times. I thought the weather reception in the 980 was sorta deaf anyways.

I'm sure it's gonna be the same display. If so, then it'll be as sensitive to scratches as the 980. If your gonna buy one and if this is an issue, then you'll need to protect it as mentioned.

I don't like weather, The 29 LX I had had the alert that was loud enough to cause a heart attack or accident. also came on stayed on and was a battery drainer.
