Hi there looking for a bit off advice on restoring an old Astatic 575-m6 michrophone, whats best for cleaning the inside off it / best to bring the shine back on the casing ? possible to obtain a replacement front grill and lastly ! replacement front decal - possible to obtain? used "debsdecals" a few years back for one but as far as I know no longer trading ?

any advice would be very much appreciated.

The best advice I can give is to do NO cleaning at all on the inside plastic of this case. It's coated with a conductive spray that provides shielding for the internal amplifier. Wipe this off the inside and your mic will pick up 60 cycle AC hum in the house and develop RF feedback causing a squeal.

The 636 is the same housing save the slots for volume/tone controls. I once took a cruddy looking 575 and put it in a 636 case by carefully cutting slots in the housing.

Deb was the only place manufacturing stickers for discontinued equipment. I don't think you'll find an unused one now.

Okay will possibly try a local graphics company to see if they can produce a couple, should not be a problem.

If you try using the 636 case, an oscillating tool works better than a rotating tool. Even then keep the speed slow as the plastic will want to melt. If you keep the heat to a minimum, the edges are easy to clean up real nice with a sharp knife.

guys any advice on how you remove the actual pcb etc from the front off the michrophone casing ? there is a screw holding the battery backing down , have removed this but still the assembly does not want to come out freely, any advice ?

It's been a long time since I've torn into a hand mic, but maybe this will help. These are pics I took doing the 575 636 swap.
