I'm finally getting around to doing this instal and realized I don't have a mount for the car. I know I can go outs and buy a mount but I have no clue what would work best. The radio is a mid 80s JCPenny that I am mounting where the tape deck used to be. I have not settled on an antenna yet because I have several that I don't even know if they work or not so I will probably just get a new one. I want to do a hard mount. Does anybody have any idea of a place between Joplin MO and Springfield MO. I know that I could get this stuff online but I want to be able to see it in person to get an idea of how it will look.

unfortunely most shops wont allow you to [TRY ON ] antennas.all i can tell ya
is take whatever anttenas you got and mount them DEAD CENTER on roof
and see how it looks.also you mentioned hard mount which is the perfered
method its also a neater look as you wont see any coax at all.dnjradio has
a really nice selection of antennas i recommend a sirio 5000 performer lots of
good reviews here

I did not mean that I would try it on but if I can see what I'm looking at in person I can get a better judgment of how it will look lol. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable mounting it on the roof unless I use the location of the stock radio antenna (just above the drivers door) as a way to judge were I want it and mount it on the oops it side the exact same way.

Use a sirio pl5000 mag mount if you're not comfortable drilling a hole, and top center or near center is the best place to mount an antenna, makes it more omni directional. JMO.

i agree with this completely. i dont worry about looks of antennas the biggest ones
seem to work the best. the sirio is about 6 feet in lenth i think so just measure 6
feet on top of roof. shorter antennas will work but there really not worth your
time or money honestly.
