Got my second 980 today, this one is dead stock with the beep noise and locked clarifier, where can I go to find the mod to get rid of the beep and unlock the course clarifier, I have looked a lot and just didn't find them. Thanks to all for your help.

well got the beep mod done and didn't wreck anything LOL now to find the clarifier mod and give that a try, radio really works great so far and I got it cheap too

unlocked clairfiers?????
just another person you have to tune in to hear what they say saying

not really,, at least with the unlocked clarifier you tune into everyone else and your on freq with everyone,, I go with majority rules for being on freq,, if im on 38lsb and I tune to where 90% of the people come in fine,, that's where the freq is

if your clarifier is locked, how do you know your on freq?,, do you check it before every dx session with a 8 or more digit freq counter that is calibrated??

now just unlocking the course clarifier seems like a joke,(unless that's the only way your radio can get you to the zero's), you still have the fine for receive only and that will change every time you move the course clarifier that is now unlocked,, you would never really know where you are at.

SSB on 11 meters is always a crap shoot, everyone is everywhere, at least if your clarifier in unlocked some will hear you on frequency, just today I was using the 980 and one guy on the fine clarifier is straight up, one at the 2 o'clock position one about 11 o'clock position they are all over the place

YUP! Happens every time. Heard a guy so far off yesterday I had the fine all the way back to 7-8 o'clock. Talk about way off!

When I was running a 959 Galaxy here at the base if I didn't have the clarifier unlocked I couldn't use it for the first 15 minutes, nobody would hear me and I don't always have a half hour to wait until the radio is ready, so to be able to tune to them I could talk right away, like when skip is rolling in the morning from Ireland and the UK, have to be on frequency for them to answer.
