I recently won a bid on a gently used duel mosfet General Lee for $132 shipped. Like every radio i get, it was out of alignment bad but nothing i cant handle (no wonder the seller got rid of it, my benifit though). I did 2 mods to it immediatly, first was the swing (diode) mod then the shottky diodes & trans. upgrade....WOW what a huge difference both made. This lil mobile is now my base radio, it does 2w on low and 10w on high swinging 70w easy on 14v. Just wanted to share on how awesome a General Lee is, old school look with good power. (I cant post any pix on this forum, smh)

Sounds like a good find for you no doubt. As far as the 2-10 watts swinging 70.........i'm sure you will hear about this. I sure did when I spoke of a radio that had the dead key set at 1-1.5 watts and would swing 10-12 watts er so.

I bought my radio used Connex CX-3300FHP nice radio on my Daiwa meter pep mode it will swing to 40 watts 4 dk swing to 40 think they have the same board in them. I did buy mine used and need to find out who did the Tune. It does work good.and I am getting good reports.

Ive done some research on the duel mosfet radios and some do 50+w but some can do 70w like mine, yes the swing diode really wakes up a Ranger board compared to stock. Older duel final radios that have 1969 trans's can do 40w-44w easy. Now, i do use a Dosey thats calibrated....These duel mosfet radios like the Connex 3300HP, Connex 33 base can really perform awesome compared to a 1969 version. Thanx for the reply's.

I can make my meter read 80 watts on a cobra. All I have to do is "align" my meter.

Did you know if you match your dosy meter with a Bird 43p meter, it still won't read the same. You can match the carrier, but the Dosy won't read the same as the Bird 43p.

Shoot, the last Bird I bought came with 2 slugs which were way out of alignment. Yup. A couple slugs had the adjustable pots inside and they were way off.

How is this swing mod done(instructions)

A dual mosfet General Lee swinging 70 watts won't last very long and will blow quicker than Monica Lewinsky.
