Today I decided to clean up the shop a bit. I don't use it during the winter as it is unheated and I left it in a mess last fall. Now that the winter residents have vacated I thought it was time to really clean it up,mouse and squirrel nests and all. The more I did the less I wanted to continue and thoughts turned to a missing RF panel meter. I decided to go upstairs in the shop to where I store stuff and look for it again. While I never did find the meter I did locate a couple critter nests and the droppings they left behind, a bazillion lady bugs, another pair of used but good 4CX250B tubes, a pair of NIB National brand 811A tubes, several 833A and 833C glass tubes, two more nice clean looking used 3CX3000A7's bringing the total to four, and three used 4CX5000A tubes along with a nice blower complete with a working air vane switch that only needs to be cleaned up and have the bearings lubed, another large tank coil, and some nice HV rectifier stacks. It's as if someone was telling me to do something with them. Anybody know what I could possibly do with such devices? A nice pair of bookends perhaps?

My AD is good on QRZ(y)

I think maybe God wants you to build a big honkin' amplifier. (y)

I have some stuff in the attic that I went through recently, and realized I had forgotten I had it. A Turner Plus Two desk mic, Turner Plus 3B, and several other doo-dads. I think the +2 may get wired up for my Yaesu FT-101E.

The things I can't find? A nice brand spankin' new Inrad GUF-1 filter that I bought for my Drake R4C. And a Ten-Tec compressor kit. Boo.

Brett

CK,

BJ's QTH is also where it snows.

After being stored and surviving those cold harsh Canada winters those 3cx's deserve to go somewhere nice and warm, send them to Florida I am good on QRZ(y)

I just went thru my climate controlled storage area and I found a spool with over 600 feet of AMPHENOL TWB 400 (times microwave bought the company and now calls it LMR 400).

Dream on Gary. Dream on. LOL Yeah 5kv would do nicely. We used to run them at 4500 in class C FM commercial service with a single 4CX250B as a driver. Your L4B would be a little overkill.

4KV and use the FT102 as an exciter should be all I would need, and still be under the legal limit, maybe(y)

You know, I'd be happy to have you build a VHF Amp with those 4CX250B tubes while we follow along on the forum. And then when you're done, I'd be really happy if you sent the completed amp to me :)

I'll bet you would Tim. LOL Yeah I had thoughts a couple years ago about those 4CX250B's as I have a pair of NIB tubes as well as a pair of good used sockets and chimneys but life got in the way. I have a lot on my plate now too and the antenna situation is #1 priority this year followed by getting the Larcan 6m amp on the air as priority #2. After that I may look at a 2m amp or even an HF amp. It all depends on how well the stacked horizontal 13B2's perform with just 50 watts at 76 feet. :D I have great confidence in the six element home brew 6m yagi at 71 feet with a kilowatt. :D

HOOKEDON6 U MAY HAVE FOUND HIT A COPPER VAIN

I was so happy with the LMR Times 400 I purchased n use on my dipole. I ordered another 150 ft for my vertical. 150ft with silver plated connectors. 150 ft = $175 not to mention the $18 3 ft jumpers I also purchased(6). At first I went down to a local cb shop, when the guy behind the counter showed me the best cable Thay had, I almost laughed in his face. The only cable I could compare that cb shop cable to was 30 year old cheap 259. The cable he showed me was cheap in look n feel. Even compared to that 30 year old junk, that if I recall was the cheapest stuff Thay sold back in the day. This LMR Times 400 has the feel look and most important, the great peformance I've got out of this stuff. U should have no problem parting out 600 ft of it. Found cash is good.
