They've had that style knobs in the past? A few months ago I ordered knobs for my 936ffc from the authorized Ranger parts and service center even though it has been discontinued two years ago. You probably could order you a set of them.
This one does have chrome case covers like mine. You could use it as a mirror.

Makes me wonder how the new Ranger is? if it would be better than the Cobra 29 or other AM radios in the 100.00 price range. was thinking about getting something different for the road.
 
The NOS/NIB Ranger TRE-936ffc I bought some time back has an awesome noise filtering circuit in it along with a great receive. With a Road Devil hooked up it's a pretty descent radio for a cb which also has a six digit freq display(more channel capable). It's my first Ranger and it beats the socks off my 959 receive filtering wise.

Maybe someone will take the plunge and get the one you're eyeballing and give us a report on how it functions.
 
Older model designed for Pana Pacific to their specs. Ranger won't have any new model radios this year.
