Help with Neighbor Interference

Okay I have posted up on here before about interference. I strongly think that my neighbor is growing weed. I have this interference for 12 hours a day from just before 6am till just before 6pm, some day's longer

I have been over there twice and asked him nicely if he had bought and new electronic devices like t.v's, computer's he said no so I waited and went back over like a week later than I said I am still getting this interference I had asked him what he has on a 12 hour timer he said nothing to his knowledge than I asked him what about in his detached carport/ shed than that's when he got all upset and started cussing

so what else can I do? I can't get him to co-operate with me and this 7 to 9 pounds of noise has got to go!!

any idea's that will not get me into trouble?

thank you!!!
R u guys in the country, possibly an electric fence charger

I'm pretty sure that all UL listed electrical devices have the same decal on them stating that they must not cause interference. Could be a loophole.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_47_CFR_Part_15

http://www.fcc.gov/guides/interference-defining-source
http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

No loophole there. That doesn't apply to CB radio. Now if this interference was happening to his cable tv, cordless phone or other paid service (wink wink) then he might have a chance filing a complaint and the FCC stepping in.

I think this is a touchy siutuation and these neighbors don't sound like the kind of people who are going to be very helpful especially if they are hiding an illegal grow. I'd be VERY, VERY certain of it before I tipped off the law otherwise, it could get ugly.

the noise has a pretty strong hum to it and yesterday it started at about 6am and it never stopped and it is still going, maybe I need to put in another call to my power company? they told me the last time they were going to look into having someone come out with some type of meter to locate the source and that never happened.

If he is causing the noise; then by law he is the responsible party . . .

The next door neighbor of a local ham guy here bought a new fancy wide screen TV, it's probably 30 feet from his radio room. Whenever that guy watches TV he gets a crap load of noise, and there is nothing he can do about it because the TV is working fine.

Best thing to do is get the power company out there and tell them you are having issues with your phone or tv or whatever. Get them out there is the key. They will be able to find the source and you won't look like a dick for calling the cops. All you would have done is try to fix a noise issue at your house. JMO.

Let's call the cops on our neighbors! Jeesh.

If I had neighbors that were running a suspected grow op and were depriving me of using my radio gear and were complete assholes about it and refused to help resolve the issue than yeah, I would call the cops on them and explain the situation. They had their chance to resolve it and they basically said screw you so I would say "No! SCREW YOU!".

I can understand your point of view. I think the way you approach them matters.... I'd tell them I don't care what the source of the interference is, and don't intend to cause them any trouble with the law. I just want to get it resolved, and propose a way to get it done.(I'm curious how)

Is there anything that can be done to block the interference?

I, for one, couldn't care less if my neighbors are growing marijuana. That is their business and doesn't bother me in the least.
I am from an area that usually resolves issues between neighbors without involving authorities. Speak frankly with them, but don't threaten. IF they suspect you would call police on them, how can you expect them to be willing to work with you?

Only if Radioman24 is a licensed ham.
Not true about having to be a ham operator. I complained that I had excessive amounts of electrical noise to my local power company and they sent out a field service tech to do a survey. They replaced four pole transformers and one street light. The cost to me $0.00 dollars. I hope your power company is a helpful as mine was.

I agree with this.

No, not if it is wideband RF. A filter will simply filter out any desired signals as well.

I couldn't either UNLESS it does impact me. So far the guy across the river from me hasn't. ;) yeah he grows it for his own use as do several others I know. i could care less unless they start selling to my kids.

You have this case backwards. The OP WAS reasonable and polite when it all first started a looong time ago. The neighbors, especially the wife, were complete assholes about it. My thinking is that if you want to be an asshole to me then be prepared for me to be an asshole back at ya.:)

The reason I mentioned the power company coming out and doing a survey, is because they will find all of the sources of EMI including your neighbor. You would not have to do anything as far as reporting them. The noise complaint and excessive electrical usage would be a red flag for law enforcement concerns.
