Great job!

I was asked to take my Extra after I passed my General, but I knew I wouldn't pass it so I declined. I was given the advice to consider it while I'm still in study mode. I went back and studied for a couple of weeks and passed the Extra exam, I'm glad I did!

Now I would like to pass on that advice to you. Go for it while you are still in study mode!

I all ready started to study and had time to made some local contacts on 12 meters i was talking with my friend KD2HQK and KC2ZCG broke in and we all had a nice talk about HF radios for camping. ill have to bring up a thread on options that would be the best for a 100 radio for camping.. i was all so monitoring 40 meters i was "scared" to just jump in but maybe tomorrow..

No need to be scared, although I would admit it can be somewhat intimidating at first since a lot of hams on frequency are old timers and have been doing it for decades. Eventually you get over that. There are lots of good guys and people from all walks of life you will meet.

I usually don't break in on conversations, I usually listen for CQ calls or make some myself. There are a few nets and groups I join in on, other then that I'm always on the lookout for some good DX.

A lot of times I just listen and learn to what people have to say about Radios and their equipment and other topics.

Have fun on the HF bands and good luck getting your Extra ticket!

thanks guys I am now working on converting my 40 and 20 meter dipoles in to a parallel 40,20,10 fan dipole. I hope to have it done in a few hours and ill get back on the air.

Great job and congratulations! I tested for Extra without studying and didn't even come close. If you came close without studying, hit the books and knock it out of the park! When I got General, I didn't think it would be that much of an advantage to get Extra. Now I see the DX spots, and there are a lot of DX contacts that operate where I can't. Go for it! Hope to catch you on the bands sometime.

Brett
