ATV QUAD CB WATER PROOF

021.JPG 049.JPG 021.JPG 021.JPG I've posted this before with different radio's and antennas but this is my final set up. It's a Radio Shack "sports" water proof /resistant CB with a cheap oil can antenna. I also took this to my tech and he went through it but I wanted to expand the channels but no info is available. Anyway I am getting out 5 to 45 miles with it as we have so many base stations in my area.

Cool idea! But how well can you hear while running down a trail? Do you wear headphones?

A water proof radio probably wouldve saved me a few cb's when I had my old jeeps back in the day.:)

No headphones, I try to make using the cb as effortless as possible. I also rarely wear a helmet and when I do its a half shell. I can hear it at 65 mph but can't always make it out nor do I run 60 mph often but the angle of the radio/speaker is perfect for the driver but otherwise it can be annoyingly loud. My hobby is CB radio so I have quite a few mods done to this but their is little to no info on this economy radio . I enjoy when out plowing to be able to talk back and fourth to my house if need be and I can talk as far as 40 miles away depending terrain. I don't know why but it is just plain fascinating talking clear as day to someone 20 miles away on this ATV lol.

I went from riding dirtbikes and 4-wheelers, into old jeeps and beat up trucks and back to dirtbikes and 4-wheelers lol. We all always had cb's in our off-road mudders, but never thought of putting one on a 4-wheeler. Would have been pretty handy when there was a big group of us. Or getting to a remote hilltop for some dx.
Pretty cool(y)

Well I live up in the Catskill Mountains off to the edge of the range so in 3/4 of my area is very good range but I also have nearly complete dead spots in as little as a 1/2 mile away, 1 mile away, 3 miles away etc and that is the same with the best mobile set ups and base also. I have made contact from the basement mostly underground with thick concrete walls to base stations to far to post because you wouldn't believe me lol.

If you have a flag mount on your ATV/ATC it is a perfect size and location for mounting your antenna using the studs for a mirror mount.
