Well being that my last post was April, sorry for being lazy. The 8900 is still working. The RD mic took a crap just like someone already posted it would. But then again, so did the stock mic. Same scratchy ptt.

ya i had a rd mike thought it was junk. i now use a superstar 452 echeo/power mike
[best deal for the money] or a extreame 2018 more expensive but has noise canselling feature
My road devil mic started getting the scratchy problem, did the same as LY with contact cleaner and just a little wd40 haven't had a problem since but i don't use it a lot. Glad to see you like the radio.
RD104E mic still in service after cleaning PTT and sounds great. Also, slightly enlarged the hole in the stock mic and it sounds way better. The 8900 is still going strong every day. Does anyone know if a top gun modulator could be installed in this unit? If so, this could be the world's most perfect mobile radio. Just a thought...
