Thanks! I found this link for SS9900... looks like the exact same software. For some reason, the link above did not work for me...could be a VPN or firewall issue on my side.

Are you using the proper cable. YOu usually have to install the drivers for the cable and windows will not install the correct ones. Make sure you install them before connecting the cable for the first time.
You have to have the correct cable It's not a standard USB cable. There is a prolific ttl converter in there.

I'm using the cable that comes with the radio so the PC does recognize it as a prolific USB to serial com port. I installed the drivers shown in the screenshot below. The PC set it up as COM5 and I selected COM5 on the software, radio on, cable plugged in and still won't read the radio. I keep getting the message "check connection. retry or cancel?"
This is the driver I have installed that I found online. The radio doesn't come with a disk with drivers for the cable and there are no drivers in the QX6666 software. Where would I get the correct ones for the cable?

check the USB version of the com ports.
some pc's have version 1 and 2 usb ports.
i expect that you will have to use a v2 usb port

I ordered a Anytone AT-6666 but received a WW AT-6666 (Weifang and Woodrow) from www.norworld.eu ... I phoned my supplier and he said it was still made by anytone.
Anyway the radio seems to be OK I like it.

Yes I am having trouble with software....... Not sure what to do?
first thing to try is just getting the pc to see the device.
I you turn on the radio and plug it into the pc, it should throw up a window.
which version of windows? vista or later?

nowadays, the device has the driver(s) loaded on them, when the USB port sees a device attach to it, the protocol can download the driver to the pc and load/install the driver to make it visible to the user

My software now works I changed it from COM3 to COM5 and now it's works fine....
i think this would be a nice lil radio in tight spaces like compact cars .
