Globephone GS-480DX

those wont work for us use, they are 80 channel because they have 40 am and 40 fm. unfortanily there frequency's are above ours. they would work for our common higher freeband frequency's. a standard exprt radio would do what you want and not be limited in power like the uk radios.

Well I just bought one NOS and hope it does decent, and yes the frequencies for uppers it seems to skip some of the flow from 41-65 from what I'm reading which is a bit confusing but at least I'll have some uppers already installed which is very nice and it's like new...

Guess NO one has had much experience with this unit ?

The 40 low Ch's are the normal FCC Ch's but the hi 40 Ch's are odd something like 27.655 to 28.405 so you lose 27.555 I hade one years ago and got rid of it....

I mention this before,Mr. Maurer can make your radio and many other expand in frequency range like nobody else

The choices in the US are limited,he can make and design the special kits and they are not expensive at all

He writes in english too

My 2 Pesos
Tecnicoloco

So you've had some done by him ? What is the time frame for it get back to someone in USA on average ? Tell me more please...

Sorry to say but I thought it was cheap and nasty inside and was no good for dx because I didn't have 27.555 as a call freq .. so at the time I got hold of cobra 148 gtl-dx a far better radio this was back in the late 80s

Okay thanks for being honest, but having triple 555 isn't the end of the world for me, although nice to have but imagine there is ways around that...

If you keep it on the 40 FCC Ch's it might be fine.. Good luck with the radio I hope it works well for you

I am talking to Mr. Maurer via email to place an order for 3 kits this week and one of the kits is for a Royce 1-639 AM/SSB mobile very similar to your radio

I guesstimate the shipping time will be 21 days from Germany or less to the US

He was highly recommended to me by a well know Radio Tech from New Zealand who represents a Compact 10 Meter Radio Brand

Also he has VFO Kits for many radios

A comment on an overseas forum about Mr. Maurer

Queball's cobra 2000 has been modified by Mr Gerhard Maurer of Austria. Therefore I'd reckon that it will out perform any homebase cb radio! My Maurer Adams keeps surprising me and will only be sold after my death! I'm pretty certain that Queball feels the same way about his cobra homebase. Having personaly heard his AT-5555
over a distance of over 40miles I can say that it has a lovely FM tx audio and a clean signal.
