choice between hr2510 hr2600 and optima mk3

Hi all
If given a choice of a president hr 2510 hr 2600 or yeticom optima Mk 1, 2 or 3 which would you choose and why
Thanks Dave
Dave,

Both Uniden's have been around for years (like 30+) and both models have become problematic (Those capacitor's get old and dry up and short), getting quite expensive to have repaired, some parts may be unobtainable at any cost, my $$ would go to the Optima..............

As posted before, the Uniden's are getting old, great radios but old.

The optima? I have never owned one but there is good reviews on them.

I have had all three at some point in time over the last 5 years. I've got to know Doc and Roger well when I had the Unidens. Loved the Optima, wish I never sold it. Many, many contacts on 10 meters with it and it worked well on 11.

Never used the unidens, but i own the MK3... I'll never sell it, love that little radio. Get one, you will not be disappointed. Rock solid on frequency all the time and it kicks bag on both 10 and 11m ssb. The receive is outstanding, od put the receiver against any export radio out there.

I'm kind of surprised you're not considering a RCI 2950dx. similar styling to the president's without the age problems.
out of the three I'd only get a president if you really want the president. old radios can require more upkeep with sometimes hard to find parts.
I chose the 2950 over the optima because there seemed to be a lot less button pushing required with the 2950dx. reading the manual for the optima seemed like there was a lot of function button this, shift button that... not what I want in a mobile.
the RCI also provides the same solid frequency lock you get with the optima, and might just have the edge in AM mod with beautiful SSB audio.

I presently own all three radios. There is not a lot of difference performance wise in the Hr2510 and the HR2600 and they really are my favorite radios. I have made many 10 and 11 meter contacts on both of those radios. I just can't say anything bad about them.

I had the Optima in line last week and that is a good radio. It puts out more power than the other two competitors, the fan is nice and quiet and the Optima works great on AM and SSB.

I like the receive better on the Unidens. And the ease of use they are very user friendly. The Optima is new and that is nice So I am having a hard time making that decision which I would rather choose. That is right I don't have to I already have them.
But seriously that is a very hard decision

I can tell you and this is off the subject I have had 4 2950's and notice how I said Had.

Hi All
Thank you, I saw 2950s and their vaguely mentioned problems but had read the 2950 dx was a great next model. I will begin researching the dx
Dave

Too bad the 2950s only do 25w ssb, you get 50 out of the optima and they are right around the same price. Not to mention the optima has better filtering and the 2950 is known for frequency drift issues.
