North coast of the USA.... Da UP!
Just got off the phone with a fellow at Magnum, I was looking for a cure for my 257 where the plastic lens keeps falling off.... 7 year old and this is the only fault!
In our conversation I mentioned the Optima and he is aware of the rig and knows how nice it is. Since the Magnum 257 has been off the market for two years now, he mentioned a replacement will be out in around 18 months or so.
I also mentioned I own the Maxlog 8900 saying it is a neat rig but runs way too hot!

It would be nice to see an upgraded magnum 257. Tighten up all the loose and sloppy controls, get rid of the blind you at night blue, and improve on a few other things and they have a good radio. A different chassis wouldn't be a bother but the old one was just fine. The stock mics worked well so leave that alone. Great power mic. Maybe add some noise canceling to it. Will have to wait and see. The 257hp was the first radio I used when I got back into 11m and used it for SSB. Made a bunch of contacts. Then I got the optima and the quality difference was night and day. Needless to say the magnums I had either got sold or are sitting on the shelve with mic socket issues. No tx out now. Don't care. I'll get it fixed one day. Have too many other radios to worry about it lol.

I did too. They told me the same thing 2yrs ago,that new radios were coming, and also heard that they were going to release some possibly leftover radios with larger amps hung off them lol! Build a new radio magnum!! Guess we will have to wait and see.

I was told the owner died snd magnum international was liquidating all assets.

I even thought I read something similar here in this forum recently about that.

Bells CB has a new Magnum1 on their website. Says it will be out in December or January, looks like a Maxlog 8800.

New magnum in 18 months.....2021 is more then 18 months away :) the magnum people musta went to the same school that causes women to think 4" is really 8" (-;
Subliminal message to eric.....ar3500...ar3500....ar3500....ar3500. More relevant to today than any of the crap currently out there
