I just got a 959 and powered it on test it. The channel display, frequency display and meter light are all not working. Seems kind of odd that they would all be burnt out on a radio not even 10 yrs old. Anything I could check to make sure I don't buy new parts for nothing?

I don't know much about the 959 but I had a 99v2 that had a dimmer pot knob. If the 959 has one Could it be turned down all the way? Just a thought... The snake had a video once on a 99v2 and he had no clue the radio had a dimmer pot built in so he did a modification to kill the bright display. And he did!!!

Read the manual when all else fails!! If you push your dimmer switch the channel sector and freq display should come back on. Look at the pic below and you'll see where it says push display under the dimmer pot. Hope this helps.

The first 959 I ever bought was turned off out of the box. I thought I had a dud till I realized it had the dimmer switch ! ! ! !
