The fan in my Palomar 500 elete calls for Sunon model no. fan 1209ptb-3 12v 1.6w. There are many available on eBay but I can't find that exact model number. I would like to replace it with a sunon but if there's another brand with the exact spec's I listed and if not can someone post a link to a fan that will be a good replacement.. I don't know how far I can stray from those spec's. My knowledge is limited to zip.I'm not concerned with the price or brand. I just don't want to replace it with something that could damage the fan or worse the amp because I deveated from the voltage and wattage. I don't know how much I can deviate from the original specs and have the fan work properly without drawing too much power from the amp itself, and possibly ruining it or not keeping the amp cool enough. Thanks for your help. You guys are excellent.

Don't worry, just use another brand as far the specifications, voltage, size and wattage are the same.
I do that all the time, or replace them for ball bearing types that last longer or have a better airflow.

I found an exact match on eBay. Unfortunately is used. I can't see putting a used fan in there. I guess the next logical thing might be to take it apart like another number suggested and clean and lubricate the bearings while the fan is open. There are other fans with the same specs that are brand new but the one that's in my amp has two leaves a negative and a positive and the other one has three. Is that something that can replace a fan with two leads? I would go with another brand but I need to remove the old one first which I haven't done yet. I need to take down the measurements as there are four bolts holding it in place and I would like them to match up perfectly. I guess I should get on that. While I have the fan out I don't see any harm in removing that Clip that holds the fan together, exposing the bearings. Who knows maybe a good cleaning and re lubrication might bring it back to life, but then again I would hate to put it back in and have it fail three or four months later. it's just more work and I'm going to have to replace it anyway. I'm so confused. Thanks for the response my friend.

Yes. The third lead is for a computer. It's a yellow wire I am presuming? I have a few sunon fans sitting around from old computers. Look like this. They are about 3.65" or so. 12vdc, 1.7w. I just taped the yellow wire up and leave it. You can cut this wire if you choose. Either way fan works the same.
