2015-06-06 18.57.23.png 2015-06-06 19.13.15.png Finally got around to digging up my last sonar fs2340.
I plugged it in. Let it warm up for 30 minutes then put it on the air.
It dead keyed 2 1/2 and had nice upwards to 10.
This is one of the two out of three that are unmodified (clipper board not bypassed).
Im a bit rough with my equipment and would hate to scuff or knick this rig in anyway.
I've decided to sell it and hope someone's looking for an fs 2340.
I will take many detailed photos within the next two weeks and post them on the cb swap/sale area of this site.
I'm not positive of the asking price yet. If no one bites I will list it on Craig's list in nj for local pick up.
The one I currently use has the clipper board bypassed and is used with a demco modulator. It has a couple of Knicks and would hate to scuff or knick this one.
If there's any marks on this one you'd need a magnifying glass to find them.
Thede pictures are of it out of storage (since 86) and un detailed.
I will clean it up then post pics of the inside and out.
I will also make a video. I'm not going to give it away and may entertain a trade in the event no one buys it.
I'm using it with an unaplified d104 (depending on the agreed price it may or may not be included).
I will use it for a few more day's to make sure nothing fails (very doubtful of anything failing). Then I'll list it. If anyone's looking for a tube rig buy one.
wheather it's a tram, robyn Browning or any of the other one's made from the 60's through the late 70's.
you won't be disappointed. Most of them are not only gret talkers but Imo the recive is so much nicer than the transistorized rigs of that era. My sonar obsession comes from the fact that the sonar radio corp. was less the ten miles from my childhood nabourhood and my first tube rig was a 2340 given to me by the infamous Artie Windjammer. It's amazing how childhood memories can influence one's grown-up choices.

Dig those Sonar rigs. Looks nice.

I run a Sonar Model "G" from time to time and have a couple of parts rigs to back it up. Got a Sonar FS-23 and a FS-3023, both 23 Channel, that I'll eventually restore, but I sure would like a FS-2340 to round out the Sonar collection  :)

The sonar G's a great rig as you probably know. I own a couple of fs23 ' s and 3023's. There's just something about the look and feel of them , very unique. Built by hand in the USA. It's unfortunate but it's probably never gonna happen like that again. What ever happened to the greatest manufacturing country in the world?
Our great and grand fathers who fought in wwl and ll are rolling over.
I've seen some 2340's sell on ebay (most shit with a few exceptions). I've definitely noticed so many more tram d201a 's and brownings than fs2340's. Since sonar never outsourced the numbers of one's buit are minimal compaired to the other usa radio builders. I've got three fs 2340'.
I really would like to let one go as I can't use three and the one I've been using (the one pictured as my avitar) base became my favorite.
The one I'm concidering letting go is the only one that's been refurbishished . Works great with one small issue.
The delta tunes off a bit. Im not sure if it needs to be adjusted or maybe a shot of deoxit on the potentiometer.
The delta tune usually at 12 o'clock every one onnfrequency is there and if someone's off you'd just turn the d/t either to the += a bit. This one needs to be left all the way to the + side. Most likely easy fix. Cosmetically very nice. Maybe three or four small knicks.
This is the receipt and the rig. If you or anyone's interested me pm me. I don't need the money In it I'm not gonna give it away. Truth be told I'd rather swap it for something related. Cb/hf classic or modern. Let me know.

Someday could be sooner than you think.
If cash isn't possible for you a swap is ok.

Do you have anything interesting to swap?

. It must absolutely clean and working as it should .

refurbished is fine if it was something that indeed needed to be refurbished/ rebuilt in the first place.

Also if that's the case no golden screwdriver "tec. thinkera types" no junk!

Let me know.. up until last year I was only interested in tube type equipment.

that hasn't changed but I have seen some "newer" radio equipment 15 - 10 years old.still high quality stuff. Hf/uhf.

If you have something ?throw it out thrre.
The wotrst that can happen is we both couldn't make a deal.

I'm letting you know what my intrest and criteria is because others who may see this will know what condition a possible traded piece must be in.

I will make a video of the radio in it operating condition soon and post it to YouTube. Thanks.
Nice radios. Would love to own one someday

Yes, i have a base SSB station, mobile 10 meter export AM/FM, a 2 transistor amp, a few noise toys, a base station antenna.....only thing is I am leery of trades via internet. In person I'm all for it. That's why I am selling it off now.

I undetested your concern about the trading situation as I've never sold or traded anything in this type of forum. I hope the person that finally makes the deal lives in the nj ares or Colorado as my brother lives there and can complete thr deal face to face.
I do appreciateyour ooffering but it's something I'm not interested in but Thanks for your offer.?m mop

I am selling one of my Sonars and its the best of all the FS=2340 and its hooked up to my favorite amp the 300A, It has been refurbished and 99 percent restored by Super Tech out of Palms-dale CA about 6 months ago and i do mostly list instead of talking just to keep the electronics working and not sitting there getting hard and bad. check out my unit on this forum and never mind the write up its for those that have never owned one.I GOT ONE FS 23 WITH FAMOUS D104G AND FAMOUS DEMCO MODULATOR THAT WORK AND WILL DELL AS ONE UNIT and one 23 for parts and for performance circuits . to experiment with my electronic circuits

Those are some nice radios, I would grab it but it would probably just wind up back in storage if I did. My base station plans have been on hold for a long time.
