Good evening, As I have been using my Ranger2950Dx and listening on 27385LSB and 27555USB,I can't help but think and wonder how different the conditions and the solar cycle 24 that we are in now,is different from what I remember when I was hearing stations left and right on the air in early 90's,just seems like there is more static in the air and the skip isn't what I once remember, iam I Crazy to think that, just my opinion, feel free to comment if you wish!! Take care Radio folks and 73's!!!!!!!!

1957-58 was the best cycle ever recorded. I wasn't licensed until 1959 so things had cooled off a bit, but I recorded my 100th country for 15 meter CW DXCC after only two months, with about 65 watts DC INput and a vertical on the roof.

This cycle has not been quite as good as cycle 22 which peaked around 1990-1991 or cycle 23 which peaked in 2001-2002.

I remember 22 as being incredible. I was a novice in 87 and Extra in 89 on the upside of 22 and really got spoiled. 23 was also darn good. Both made 10 meters a blast to play on long past sundown. FM was active and 10m repeaters. 10 meters wasn't nearly as good this time.

Had no problem this cycle, yes it was not so good as the last but iI could work all continents from Europe on 10/12/15 without problems running anything from 10 to 1000 watts.
It didn't last months on end, but there were days and weeks conditions were exceptionally good, Japan from the Netherlands 10 watt 5/9+ etc, Australia, New Zealand, India, China, South Africa, South America, USA Canada name it i worked it.

Just got licensed in 1977 so for some still new kid on the block ;)

It just takes more time and being alert on condx seeing them rise.
In the early days there was no internet to warn you, you just had to listen and call.
So, things changed for the better.
