WTB: Icom IC-706MKIIG HF/VHF/UHF Transceiver

Gee Dave, I don't know who told you that, but,............. the MKII is out of production and certain parts are NOT available anywhere.

there are radios with a MUCH better receivers with DSP that I would buy new.

YMMV good luck

I took everyone's advice and purchased a newer IC-7000 from Universal radio that has been gone over and not an ebay purchase.
I hope the receive on this radio is better,

You should be happy with it for a first HF radio that is nice one. JMHO. I am happy with my purchase I made a couple years ago. Bought an IC-746. It had just come back from Icom with a full go over. It works well for me and has not had an issue since I have owned. But I don't push the piss out of it and also keep it very well clean and put away when not in use.
But anyway, you should be pretty happy with the 7000. It has some good features for a first radio. And there are still parts and they can still be serviced if needed. Good deal. Have fun with it and read the manual!! There really is some good info in there LOL! Have a good day.

I know a local Ham who has a IC-706 for sale. He's been advertising it on the local net for $600 including a LDG-Z100 Plus auto tuner and a G5RV antenna. He says the only thing wrong is no TX on 2 meter FM mode. All other bands and modes work and it's been MARS mod already. If interested I can pass info along
