My other hobby

w9cll -

Do you have your instrument ticket? Commercial Ticket? What endorsements do you currently hold; complex, high performance, CFI?

Aviation rocks..I like it, and invested as much time in learning to fly as learning about radio...

I don't fly the real ones anymore(no time or extra money these days) my father was a United Captain for 30 years out of the military. He flew B-29's in WWII, bombed Tokyo and was at the same field (north field)that the Enola Gay took off from(had good stories about that). Family owned a Cessna 421 and used to fly up to Lake Lawn Lodge to play golf as well as other places. I had my instrument rating, multi-engine, Tailwheel, HP and Complex. I used to do aerobatics in a Christen Eagle that I helped a friend build.

You mean you have an instrument rating that is simply out of currency.

Its not appropriate to comment on bombing innocent civilians when Pres. Obama just visited Hiroshima - Not such a proud moment in U.S. war history. There is no good story in death to innocent women and children no matter what country.

Although the war did end because of that, it was a terrorist activity. No different from an ISIS attack - using civilians as pawns.

I'm not saying the Japanese military didn't deserve to have their butts kicked so hard that they would be wearing their butts for a hat, but not civies.

I agree that bombing innocent people is wrong but in a time of war it is unavoidable. That's how you win right, keep killing innocent people till the other side either runs out or decided to stop. I was merely stating what he did even if I agree or disagree with it. As for dropping the bomb, that to was unavoidable in my opinion, tho 10's of thousands were killed 100's of thousands of lives were saved because of it. Should it ever be done again... NO!

Yes my certs are out of currency. I don't fly anymore. Do I miss it, yes at times but my wallet is much happier.

IRC; weren't they used in raids from aircraft carriers on Japan before they used B-29's from Tinian?
There was one raid using b-25's off the USS. Hornet after Pearl Harbor. As a mission it was a complete failure but is was a moral builder. Google the "Dolittle Raid" for some interesting reading.

According to The Obama administration, there is a way to keep civies safe during a war.

It was more than the H-bombs, Tokyo was obliterated by conventional fire bombings. I personally know 2 people who are still alive today, right now, that lived in Tokyo during the fire bombings of WWII. They ran for their lives as they watched their homes destroyed, witness to children with no face left but still alive - brains hanging out, while others were only partially par-boiled left for dead, others were screaming from 3rd degree burns covering 100% of the body unable to die quickly, still that wasn't enough terrorism - bring in the H - Bombs. The enola gay and bockscar (names not caped intentionally) should be destroyed and turned in to public urinals. . It wasn't good piloting, or great strategic planning that stopped the war, it was the 500,000 civies that died which stopped the war. Only about 5% of the victims were actual military personal. ( Your data is not correct, it's wasn't 10's of thousands - it was over 1/2 million lives). There are more casualties but aren't counted because they didn't die from the blast, but died years later from radiation exposure which caused leukemia, thyroid cancer, and cardio vascular disease(s). (Both of my friends suffer from these diseases as we speak).

You can't imagine the horrific tragedy until you hear it first hand from survivors and the pic's - OMG so f'in brutal. .What many don't know, and is not discussed, are the Japanese people who begged the Japanese government for peace and were actually sympathetic to everyone. They were eliminated by the US fire bombings or if they lived in America - locked up like dogs.

With the exception of 911 and a few terrorist attacks on our soil, the American people were never in eminent danger. Top scientists working on a nuclear bomb defected from Germany so it was unlikely an H-bomb would have been developed, tested and used against us - we had all their work. Yet another government lie. So saving "100's of thousands" is another lie perpetuated by the American government.

The second ISIS obtains a nuke from North Korea or Iran - we may suffer the same fate.

And no, killing innocents isn't how to win a war. That's how ISIS thinks..its plain and simple terrorism.

This was Americas darkest hour - So, what good stories do you have about WWII and a B-29?

Anyway - to bad you don't fly anymore. I'm lucky, I guess, I get paid to bore a hole in the sky.

Beautiful model. But if you have to have your own hanger and ground crew it to big for me .
Love flying RC aircraft and can appreciate the skill to build and fly such a craft. These days I only fly electric, no mess no fuss.

Well, perhaps that gives some insight....... Ain't he the same guy that murders American citizens without Due Process of Law with drone strikes, and just recently started using B-52's?
