Selling my Skullcracka amplifier. These don't come up for sale very often! Here is your chance to own one. Has variable for input tuning 16 2sc2879 transistors. Amplifier is in good working order. Being sold as is.

Asking price of 1,300.00 plus shipping cost or will trade for a Yaesu ft-1000D with filters in great condition. I have 100 percent feed back on here and Ebay. Payment to be made using PayPal Gift (or pay the 3%? charge). Will only ship to lower 48 state. Amplifier will be packaged very well for safe trip to you using Fedex ground with tracking. Again being sold as Is.

No offense, but I will never understand how cases on amps get beat to death. Like anything, if I see a case in such a poor physical condition as this, I assume it has been beat to death in every regard, even if it came to you in this condition.

Doesn't look beat-up to me...Some of the paint looks a bit scratched off, but I would imagine that's just from ridding around in the trunk or in a tool box for several years.

Hell, long as it works, at that price you would be making out like a bandit, and if you didn't like the looks of it,you could always sand down the case and repaint it Hot Pink or whatever color you wanted!

Nice to know at least one person in this thread has some common sense.

There's a difference between physical condition and cosmetic condition. What do you expect from a first run amp built in the 90's with original paint?! It's not that it can't be painted over like the gentleman said, I just choose not to do it. It's not about the looks but the power under the lid. ;)

Why is it every time I post, no matter where, somebody always has to open their mouth and make a smart comment.

Besides, I like it all original since it's a collectible amp. If that guy knew anything about amp builders, he would know this is a collectible.

And It was not in reference to this one specific item. Just in general if I mount a classic amp in my trunk, I dont throw my Jack and tools on top of it. Thats just me.

Hey, I understand and respect your comment. I have never understood on any of the radio forums. When someone is asking for advice. There is always a person or persons who feel the need to to be rude. Instead of helping or just not commenting at all. They don't stop to think how they're making the other person feel. I can tell you no matter how the amp got scratched up threw the years. It Is still working good. The main board looks real clean for it's age. I don't need to sell the amp. Just wanted to buy a yaesu ft-1000D instead of waiting for tax time. Buy if It don't sell soon I will just wait.

The point trying to be made is that perhaps, just perhaps, most folks are also concerned about the physical appearance of a unit (any unit) because oft times it is indicative of how the unit was cared for.

For instance, here is a couple of pics of a mobile linear amplifier that is much, much more 'rare' and much, much older than the SkullCracka pictured.

And yet, it is in both pristine cosmetic and electrical condition:

This particular unit was manufactured in April of 1977.

I believe these pictures are indicative of the physical / cosmetic condition to which most folks would like to receive equipment.

I see your point but this is flat black with no clear coat on aluminum and it scratches easy compared to the amp you showed that is coated factory paint. All I know is the amp works fine and if someone wants to paint it they can.
