RCI-2950dx or Lincoln II v3/+ for first 10m??

Wow..just wow..... Ok get the 2950 and limit yourself to four dead bands.. Seriously think about it. The 29 whatever may be the best dam radio made but its useless if there is nobody to talk to... again just wow.... not pointed at OP but to onetime.. small mind...
Personally I like the 2950's but I have to agree that a HF rig would be a better choice if you're going to pursue a ham ticket just for the additional bands, I can also see not wanting to deal with the potential problems of an old rig. This can be a bit of a dilemma if you have set a budget.
To the OP: have you thought about just saving up a little longer for a decent new ham rig? how long do you figure it would take?

Just give some thought to what you want, buying the rigs you mentioned is not a bad thing just a very limiting one.
I recently bought a 2970n2 a few months ago. It's a fantastic radio for what is it. I will agree with some that, yes, the band is dead for the most part but there's still skip here and there.. Just not as often. I've been using Ranger radios for years and I can say from experience, they don't drift on SSB. They're quite stable and hold their own. I know many hams that only use 2950,2970s for 10m use. Just because they're stable. As for someone commenting about "older hams" being on the side of ignorance and arrogance, I agree. What blows my mind is that most of them started in CB lol.. I'm a frequent SW listener and actively listen to hams on 160,80,40 and 20 meters and I can say that most of them sound like they're radio gods. Talk down to anyone less superiors in either the radio they're using of even saying they still talk on 11 meters. This is a primary reason why I don't have my ticket. I don't care for it. I know more "Cb'ers" that have better radio etiquette then experienced hams.. just my opinion.. Listen to 7,200khz.. That's just one of many frequencies that these so called "better radio" operators operate. I'm not saying that all hams are like this, but to come off saying that the ham bands is the greatest thing since sliced bread is bullshit. Just saying!

It is my first post.. I don't know who OLT is.. I was agreeing with him.. That's all.. IT's not accusing anyone.. It's stating a fact of what actually happens on HF bands. I don't need to justify myself because it's a fact. The same ones who bitch and complain that no one gets a ticket anymore.. I wonder why.. . I know calling out someone can sometimes get defensive. Sure it happens on 11 meters as well but let's face it, the rest of the HF bands are much, MUCH more active with hams and with that being said, that outweighs the bullshit that happens on 11 meters. I just agree with OLT. We don't know each other whatsoever. I just figured I'd comment - my first comment on something that made complete sense because I for one, listen to the BS on SW more times then not!
You are correct that many of todays hams started out on 11meters, my self included. There comes a time when you realize that all you're doing is spinning your wheels, this is what we were trying to point out to the OP of this thread. Buying something no matter how good it is will limit the user is not the best option. Getting a 29??? whatever is a perfectly viable option and will work fine when the band is open but its not open and most likely not going to be for while now. The OP while being a ham for two years has been limited to 2/70cm and therefore may not have been exposed to HF, a 29??? whatever was a cheap way to get into HF but who are you going to talk to?
I will agree there are elitist hams out there as there are in every other aspect of society but lumping all of us in that category is honestly being elitist yourself.

Of the two radios mentioned, right now bang for your buck is the Lincoln II Plus, 10/11/12 meter rig, menu controled, built in DCS, built in CTCSS, VOX feature, works with the president wireless mic.
President is promoting the $249.99 Price.
They seem to interested in the US market again, having set-up President Electronics in Florida., and featuring a couple new fcc style radios for the US, and the Lincoln II plus for sale.
At that price, I got one on the way to play with.

I still find people to talk to, there are a few here that still use 10 in the evenings.
I am Lucky in one respect, I have several places within 15 min of home that I can work mobile at several thousand feet above the valley that allow contacts 150/200 miles out with just a whip antenna, and the world when the band is open.
For 30+ years I have had some kind of 10 meter rig in my mobile and I will admit I am a 10-11-12 meter SSB junkie.

How does the SSB RX compare between the Lincoln II v3 and the 2950dx? I've always found the RX on my original Lincoln to be quieter than that of the 2950. I'm wondering if the new Lincoln II v3 have that same nice RX.
Qrz. Com is a good place to shop for a good HF rig but to answer your question about the 2950 or Lincoln I'd go with the 2950 seems to me to be much more durable then the Lincoln I have both. Also on qrz. Com you may find a nice HR. 2510 look in the Ham equipment for sale and general merchandise many times they will be Hams selling good old 10 meter radio stuff there
