What happened to the HOA vs Amature and Citizen antenna battle

I guess I don't understand the problem, nor do I see a reasonable argument. What part of "no antenna" did you fail to understand as you voluntarily signed your name in agreement?

While I DO agree that an agreement was entered into the problem is that more and MORE communities are coming under HOA's. This limits the availability of good housing areas nearby schools, urban centres etc that allow antennas. One may even argue that it infringes upon one's rights to peaceful enjoyment of one's property. The proposal does not in any way give the radio operator carte-blanch to put up whatever he wants and it still limits any antenna to what is deemed "effective". The federal government came to realize the effectiveness and usefulness of amateurs in the aftermath of Katrina and is seeking to allow them to continue to be able to provide such services to their communities should the need arise regardless of where they live. One should not have to choose to live in a different school district or have a long commute to work simply because some power hungry group decides what you can and cannot do with your own property. While I understand that baet-up rusting cars on jacks in the yard may be unsightly a simple ground mounted antenna behind the house or a wire antenna not even visible is far from that. I think the best idea would be that existing HOA agreements should be grandfathered and stand as-is while new agreements should be included under the proposed changes.

As a multiple home owner, some under and some not under HOA contracts, I tend to agree with that.

However, the Nazi-isk ARRL doesn't see it that way.
 
It is in the SENATE, they do NOTHING on anything. Also get a copy of CQ that bill is about nothing, the article was written by a ham , lawyer, they still have to ask permission, and they can tell you what kind of antenna, they know about 2 meters and 19 inch whip...

Agreed: Senate version needs to die in committee...
Define: Reasonable accommodation while still asking for permission...Still no specs as to what is reasonable in regards to towers.
I do feel sorry for today's new home buyers. Most new homes are being built in these "Cookie Cutter" subdivisions...where they take a 100+ acre plot and put 150-200 homes in it and when you purchase better take a REAL GOOD Lawyer with you to see what is actually being passed thru for your signature.
I can attest to this when my Lawyer stopped the closing.
When the Title Company and the Lender tried to pass a sheet thru the stack giving them access to my TAX RETURNS and BANK records for like the next 10 years after closing!!!
BS!!! There boys...after they realized we were going to backed out...that went in the trash...

I've done more than enough spouting off elsewhere so just make up your own mind about this less than useless and possibly very harmful piece of legislation .

This is why we have fiberglass flagpoles: so we can display our patriotism on the outside and hide the antenna that we've hidden on the inside.

My HOA home is in a community where the by-laws allow an antenna so long as the tip doesn't exceed more than 5' above the highest point on your roof. That's not ideal, but it is not terrible.

I don't have access to my cad here but I'll try to explain .

With RF transparent telescoping tube (fiberglass in this case) what you do is get the largest diameter you can and work your way down .

In this case 2 1/2" . Then refer to the "sample kits"

The next size down is 2 1/4" . Cut several rings of the 2 1/4" for bushings and seal support . It works like this . At the top of the 2 1/2" section insert three rings of 2 1/4" leaving enough room between them for a commercial square "O" ring . Do a bit of sluthing on

I found the "X" profile to work best with irregular surfaces and the 1/32" inch interference to provide a good seal without a great amount of friction/stiction.
Now you have two internal "O" rings and a bushing at the top of the 2 1/2" base section . Repeat this at the base of the 2" second section making three more rings from the 2 1/4" and gluing them to the 2" section leaving room for the same size "O" ring you used on the top of the 2 1/2" section !

Repeat the process as far as you can and you have a radome that can contain anything you can stuff inside . You can easily get to 40' plus in 6 sections .

Modify a small piston compressor to apply pressure . Turn it around to apply vacuum . Store vacuum as well as pressure in small tanks . This has the added benefit of a vacuum source for de-soldering as well as air pressure for blowing the crud everywhere .

The hybrid . With a non-conductive base and metal follow on sections you can make a tuned vertical at any of the common magic lengths . The same practice applies . Skip one size on the way down for bushing and seal support all the way to 1/4" if you think you can get it to work . I found that 3/4" is the practical lower limit . Some sort of electrical continuity will have to be maintained section to section. A simple replaceable brass or copper , sprung , feeler strip is probably okay for all but kilowatt operation .

As far as tuning a 31' or 43' vertical ? SG-230 , manual , rotary switched loading or tuner of your choice . As far as stuffing the radome goes , you are a resourceful experimenter with some imagination or you wouldn't have read this far .
