A Ham I Am

At last count there were two extra class members on here. Come on and get that EXTRA Class!

Am already studying, Tallman. Just getting my General really opened my eyes as to how things work. Can't wait to see what the next level has to offer. Should have done this a LONG time ago!

There is not much difference between general and extra class. The link I provided take you to the page that tells all. A few more frequencies and more power here and there.

Thanks. Am aware of the additional privileges but don't know how much I'll use them.
The main reason I'm studying for my Extra is because I am really enjoying learning the technical aspects of the hobby. Becoming a Technician piqued my interest and getting my General really got me motivated. Thought it would all be over my head but it's not.
Have to say, being retired and having the time to devote to it makes it a whole lot easier. (y)

I haven't checked in a long time, but, I don't remember gaining any power increases when I became an Amateur Extra.
You are right. The only power gain is when you go from technician to general. I have not run any power except from what comes out of my radios. 100 watts works good enough.

The jump from General to Exrta is a small upgrade compaired to Tech to General. It's worth it but give yourself time to learn.

Will do. I'm not into memorizing the test questions and answers. I want to understand the material. That was easy at the Technician level and not too hard at the General.
However, the material for the Extra is a whole other story. But I'm getting there.
