Can anyone explain why the wm1 by Autek uses the + as - and the - as + to power it?
There might be a particular kenwood meter that uses the Power supply wiring configuration. Very strange. After it's exsplaine it might not be so strange. 73's

Don't know for sure, but I would imagine the power supply's were an economically driven purchase. The company probably bought a boatload of them for a very very good price. I once called Autek to order something, the guy on the phone was a real JERK, typical of many in business, typically the reason for it's DEMISE............Mac

As posted, depends on what was available at the time for wall warts.
I on the other hand called and had a lengthy conversation with them concerning frequency vs accuracy of the Autek WM1, years ago of course when they were still being manufactured.
Guy I spoke with was friendly, and very helpful answering all questions I had.
So I ordered a new one and have purchased several used ones.

So it most likely wasn't done with a technical issue in mind? The replies make scene. Autek just built some (most) of their meters because they probably got a great deal on wall warts that just happen to have a wiring configuration that wasn't standard for US electronics. I think my questions was answered. Now a follow-up. Are there countries where this Power configuration is the norm?
