Icom IC-7300 HF Transceiver Review

The HM-219 hand mic that is supplied with the 7300 is a very capable microphone. If you do not know what it is when you first talk to someone on a 7300 using that microphone, you will not ever know what it is.
It does sound that good.........

went to a local hamfest over the weekend and picked up a Heil Hmm-ic hand mic new in the box for $30 just to try out, it is a very nice hand mic and also has plenty of drive to run the icom7410 to full output at less than 50% mic gain,, it does have a little more bass sound than the HM-219 but not a huge difference ,, icom did get the mic right on the 7300, the hm-219 is a very good mic

No bullshit my friend. Another friend uses a Heil headset and when he switches to the hm-219 it even sounds fuller than the expensive headset.

not a head set its a heil icm studio microphone.
dont know what element is in it.i know it works well. and i like it.

.. and just what element is in the Heil headset?

"fuller", (whatever that means) is not necessarily better.
Sorry I don't know which element he is using. I think it's the icm element. In an A B test the hm-519 hand mic sounded better to me. Like I said earlier I have a PR40 but in a blind test my circle of friends prefer the hm-519. So my PR40 is collecting dust at the moment.

Heard one this evening on 38lsb. A local in southern nj or eastern penn. Can't recall his handle/numbers but, I must say with the supplied icom hand mic the transceiver sounedd very nice
Thanks for the first part of your review. Very informative. And the transceiver seems to be easy to use for the first time HF owner and at $1500 seems like a deal. Used 756 for $1000-$1300 or a brand new rig for $500 more. A no brained IMO. If the general coverage mod can be done for 27 MHz via the menu as opposed to going inside the rig is a plus as I'm sure the important warranty stays intact. I'm not sure if I'd void the warranty. New rig designs sometimes have bugs which require a return to place of purchase or an authorized tec for warranty repairs. Looking forward to your followup.. Thanks
