Well, sitting in Sunday School this morning knowing the rain was souring an afternoon of antenna tinkering stimulated an idea to build an umbrella antenna. It seemed appropriate.
So I got home and took care of a few things with my wife and went to work on my antenna.
From behind my pickup truck seat, and from the garage I gathered some materials I would need. I went to the shop for a piece of coax, analyzer, measuring tape, drill and bit, and a roll of tape. A couple small alligator clamps, too.
After a while of drilling, measuring, attaching feed line, adjusting and measuring with the analyzer I had an antenna with an SWR curve of 1.5:1 at the upper end of the band and 1.2:1 at the lower end. No one was on the air so I will have to try it out later.
