PC-122 question (Uniden Pro 810e)

Hello, all!

My set up is going well, and I've been told my radio sounds great with some forward swing.

The only suggestion by the guys is that I'm off frequency just a tad high.

I build antennas and have done some work on electronics before, and they seem to think a 1mm move on the right pot will put me dead on frequency.

The problem is, WHICH POT! Hahahah... I've scanned all the material on line, and there is a lot on this board, but I cannot single out which item I should adjust!

Anyone have a good description for me? Supposedly, it should be "easy" to find..... hahahaha not for my old eyes!

Thanks!

Greetings!

Have you "converted" and made the Clarifier Track TX and RX?

Or is it stock...?

IF it's "stock" then adjust VR3.

Here's some help...
PC122AlignmentpointsAMUSBLSB.jpg

The Graphic above is alignment points - looking down from the rear panel towards the front...

The side grey box is the modes the coils above - affect.

NOTE carefully, L18, L19 and L20 - affect the AN612 and I call it the "Voice" side for adjusting this side of the coil strip - affects how the "Tone" and where the peak tonal voice path is - if you sound tinny you can tweak here to center your voice into the radios passband for it's crystal filter. YOU WILL NEED TO OFFSET THE CHANGE TO THE VOICE BY TWEAKING CORRESPONDING PLL COIL if you do this. You can some lateral shift but not much for the Xtal filter is sharp cutoff...don't expect miracles and if you are not sure - DO NOT TURN THE COILS - for information only!

The above may be a bit much but - again stock clarifier adjust VR3 TX FREQ ADJ for best results.

Enjoy the radio!

hey exit 13 I forgot your name when I was putting Andy and unit399 on my rant. sorry about that. there is s few others also. the original poster is new so just wanted to throw out a few names he might look for when reading post here. Loosecannon is another.
Handy Andy has done so much with the 122 versions of the radio he is about the most knowledgeable one I know on this radio. he can sure make some good pictures when he is posting also. wish I could make as good of ones as he does. I even bought a new camera trying to do them and not close to what he does.

This google search took less than .005 Seconds and the very first result was on target. You could have found this in less than a second! The people telling you 1mm of movement will do it are idiots do not touch your radio with out the minimum gear for a proper alignment. If your clairifer/rit is unlocked and you are that close to being on freq. you can do it with that. Who talks on SSB with out an unlocked classifier? On top of that if the idiots giving you this garbage advice are talking on anything made by Ranger ie Galaxy, Ranger, Connex etc....they are likely not on freq.!!! Usually if you try this with out the right gear at best you end up chasing your own tail just like a dog!

Hello, Onelasttime, I appreciate the help. I have searched and found all these items. I do not own a meter - and not being into a radios guts before just understand what that page is saying.

I'm quite adept at internet and if I wanted to go it alone I would do so. I'm merely asking people in the know.

And my friends here in Seattle don't run any of the radios you're talking about.

Sorry you got sucked into a thread with a newbie - feel free to block me or unfollow this thread. I'm not here to waste anyones time other than my own.

Oh and for the record about the max forward swing you should try to get with swing on these radio's is 15 watts. Far safer to set it up for 3 swinging 12 and you will have no worries. This chasis just do not handle more than that if you want them to last. I do not recommend wing kits and NPC mods with these radio's. SSB performance always suffers.
