Galaxy DX-94HP from Bells... Backwards Swing

Well; isn't this all so shocking . . .

Having seen a number of Bell's CB videos of radio repairs, I think it flies in the face of what their tech has said over and over again, that he does not remove limiters. In fact, he even has sooo many videos of REPLACING the limiter that others have yanked out before he proceeds with other repairs and alignment.

Can also recall that the tech had one radio that had backwards modulation. While he was fixing it, he also explained WHY mods shouldn't be done by people who use the internet info to mod their radios w/o consulting anyone that would know better.

Why did Andrew's radio be swangin' backwards? Dunno. But I do know that it also seems impossible for Bell's tech to do work that would have that outcome - unless it was damaged/dropped in shipping. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle once wrote 'once you removed all other possibilities, what is left - however improbable - must be the truth'.

If someone came to me and offered me big money to hack their radio, I would turn them away in a heartbeat and send them packing. Does Bell's have a new tech that does shady work? But if it is the same guy that they've had over the years; then he has already established himself and the shop and is the kind of guy that refuses to let a radio to go out improperly maintained or modified. Furthermore; why is it that Bell's tech is always being maligned?

Possibly because most of the work he does sounds and performs like this radio. A stock radio right out of the box always sounds better and performs better than something that came from that shop.
Not sure if anybody noticed, but you'll never see a perfect waveform on any of his videos and it looks like the scope is simply a theatrical prop.

I can tell you this, I bought a brand new radio from them, Screwdriver did the work (or at least signed the card) and it was overmodulated as well as limited on modulated AM power output. It drew 9A on a 25W carrier and pulled 9.5A modulated. How much power could it actually make only drawing 9.5A? It pulled 17A on SSB so it seemed to be doing fine there, but AM? It now pulls about 17A on both AM and SSB while having clean, loud modulation.

I didn’t go over every single change Denny made to their setup, but in my testing the radio kicks ass now. I can’t wait to get it in my truck and start using it.

Ummm; howabout NO?

You forget that the videos from that shop are made to show that the work was performed properly and done in accordance with shop policy and standards.

You know, if you stopped acting like a shill for your shop and actually addressed the issues on this forum honestly for a change; then you just might get some respect. Unless that isn't important to you. You aren't the only one on this forum with their own shop and none of them bang their own drums. IMO - what your shop needs is a lot of credibility that it has yet to get, and you are never going to get it the way you are pursuing it - FWIW. Please pardon my honesty.

Where's your honesty? I don't own a shop.
I give credit where credit is due, and I joke about idiots who throw their money away like this guy. I fail to see how that makes me a shill. Every tech needs to recognize their limitations and focus on their strong points and work within the limitations of their bench.
I realize not every shop can afford a 750 amp power supply for their bench, but don't insult my intelligence by claiming to be capable of tuning a 100 amp station with a few car batteries to compensate for a 30 amp power supply.
You talk about credibility, but where's the credibility in a tech that disregards a voltage drop, and charges money for his services?

Where is my honesty? Right back at you. You make comments on this forum and pose situations that only a tech would know about. Yet you claim not to own a shop? Not buying it. Dunno if anybody does. You continue to harangue this forum with dumb memes that I'll bet no one is laughing at while avoiding any proper response to questions asked of you. Trying to shill for a shop that practically no one has ever heard of. Reputation is everything in that business, so I can say that you aren't getting any from here. You wanted honesty? You should have quit while you had a chance.

My apologies to the forum and staff; but why is this guy here? Has he made any proper contributions here; or is he a low-level troll borrowing another CB radio op's handle?

I once ran a shop in the mid 70’s, but moved on to other endeavors shortly after the 40 ch models came out, plus the market reached the saturation point. One thing I’ve learned over the years is you need to develop an attitude that says “you never stop learning.” Also “the best teacher is recognized by your own mistakes” Placing yourself into the holier-than-thou realm will greatly slow that process down. As a rule of thumb in many businesses, a no greater than 3% dissatisfaction return rate is acceptable. Hopefully most of that small percentage is related to some misunderstandings or operator problems. Although I repair my own radios, I usually don’t broad brush a fellow repairman’s work that may or may not have made a few mistakes, especially those new in the business. There’s usually something to be learned from everyone. Peace out!.....

I have just spent the last several minutes going over some of RabbiPorkChop's past posts.

there is nothing helpful or substantive there, and he's been a member for over 10 years.

He's not going to change his ways, and he's not going to stop walking the edge of what's considered troll behavior on this forum.

For this reason i have chosen to hit the IGNORE button on his profile page. it's in the upper right corner of the page that appears when you click on his name.

I realized a little while back that he has absolutely zero interest in actually debating any theory or tech practices and really just wants to rile people up.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to hang out in a place where they are not respected, but to each their own.

I do not generally ignore people i don't agree with on this forum, but there are now two people here who have proven beyond doubt that they have nothing good to say and are not worth the time it takes to read their posts.

I certainly don't want to dictate how anyone else should run their forum experience, but i do know that my experience has improved since doing it.

food for thought people.
