I acquired a Sears SSB RoadTalker 40, model number 934.38310700, and I am looking for at least the alignment procedure for it, if not a service manual. Anyone have info on this radio?

CB Tricks doesn't have the alignment procedure. They have a "tune up" procedure, which includes what appears to be unlocking the clarifier, and adjusting RF output power. I'm looking more for PLL alignment, receive and transmit alignment, etc. They don't have it there. It was good for figuring out what was done to unlock the clarifier, so I could lock it again, but otherwise, it doesn't help me.

Tallman,
I have a couple Sears AM mobiles. All with Uniden boards. I believe you are correct that the SSB models used Hitachi boards.

PoDuck,
Info I have shows this chassis to be similar to:

JC Penney 981-6246 (Not in Sam's CB Series)
JC Penney 981-6248 (Not in Sam's CB Series)
Sears 934.3826 Sam's CB-254
Kris XL-45 Sam's CB-172
Kris XL-50 Sam's CB-144

Hope this helps!

I have a schematic for the 934.38260700 it's just the schematic that came with the radio but if you think it's the same chassis I will make a copy and post it so you can download it.

PoDuck,
Sams Photofacts CB-274 should be your answer.
(I don't have this one!)

I noticed that. It appears this radio doesn't sell for much, so paying $22 for a downloadable copy seems a bit much.

That could be helpful, although it won't likely help much with the alignment.

Hi, I just acquired that same radio. Can you please post the schematic? Its a great radio but very limited information on servicing this model.

I ended up using the Sams Photofact version. It is the same exact chassis as the JC Penney 6248, and there are two issues where this chassis appears in the Sams Photofact CB manuals. Issue 254 and issue 274.

I'd scan the pages if I had a scanner, but the scanner on my machine broke, and I never use it, so I haven't gotten a new one, and as big as they are, I doubt a picture with my phone would work.

Hi, I just acquired that same radio (Sears Roadtalker SSB 40 base), any chance you have a good schematic and/or tune up info, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks, Adam

Actually if someone can tell me where RT402 is (ALC for SSB adjustment) I would appreciate it. Can't see all the part numbers on the board so not sure exactly which one is RT402. Thanks, Adam

If i wasnt so lazy id take mine apart n take photos of the alinghnment pots.friend that works on radios marked mine.
If you dont find the proper schmatics i will try to open mine n let you know

Hi, I appreciate that, luckily today I was able to determine which pot was the RT402 and had success adjusting the radio so for now I think I am OK. Again, thanks for the post. Adam
