CB dedicated dipole?? Half or Full Wave?

1970 for me , only guy in Hs with a Cb radio antenna ( gutter clip ) on my 1969 S/S Chevelle , L88 buy the way . I got my B@#l's busted for it so took it off for racing ! Smokey and the Bandit had nothing on me in the day .But as said in the past I learned my respect for people on radio operating back then because my home channel was run by two ladies , do I regret that ?No way ! I recently got a LL from someone because I stuck my nose in on a local channel telling me No One would do what you did because I tried to protect an op from BS he didn't deserve , the op's were not happy with what I did but I call a spade a spade ! Not sorry for what I did ( well my amp ) . Just me I guess , sorry for the rant ! 73 and God Bless , Leo

Riverman 71 , I chat with a lot of Ham op's , back to studying for me for my Tech license this winter , my Xyl bought me a laptop just for that last year . Things get busy around here in the summer but back to studying this winter , one thing for sure I will never forget my 11 meter roots .jmo Besides I have a whole lot of $ invested in 11m .

That's what I did. Studied in the winter. Was going to take my test in the spring but ended up taking it in January instead.
Don't stop with your Tech license. Keep studying and keep on truckin'. (y)

I can mount the 1:1 center balun at 20' exactly on a pole and bring the ends down into an inverted V to the ends.. then ends would tie off just at the roof edge of my mobile home with insulators.

I can do either a half wave or fullwave..

Which should I do? Would I gain anything with a full wave?

I was going to get an A99 and the proposed Imax 2000 seems too tall for my HOA mobile home park..

Hence the 1:1 balun wouldn't stick out as much..

I am using real Times LMR-240 about 29' of it..

Years ago in the late 1970's I made a SLIM JIM for 10/11 metres no BS with impedance matching, just 50 Ohms and spot on performance and improved angle of radiation.

Worked surprisingly well on skip given the lower angle of radiation a great improvement on the 1/4 wave and 4 element beam I was using at that time.

Normally these are made for much higher frequencies such as 2 metres, to make one at 11 metres was a bit unusual but I was very glad I did.

I am contemplating revisiting making another one to use with my Galaxy 95T2, its been sitting in the box too long due to lack of a decent antenna.

Well well well I am going the route of 1/2 wave dipole so I can be on the flat side. Was going to do the full wave but as I read all of this info I have settled on the 1/2 wave dipole. I use a A99 but care to do a little experimenting. Lord knows I have the room. I am going at the minimum of 40' high off the ground. I will let you know the results as the time allows me. Peace out, 73's

going be waiting a while on the skip, there will be moments but the solar cycle is in deep decline right now.
Congrats on getting the dipole up and working(y)
