Any one have a pic or diagram of a connex 3300 power plug a friend gave me the radio and the power plus was pulled out and the soldered connections were pulled apart and I’m a rookie and not sure where to put them back to

Did you look on the board it should be clearly marked. Look for a B+ the pad across from it should be the (-). You can use any common 3 pin socket and plug. Make sure the factory chokes are in place!

Yes I did see the + and - I’m not sure what u mean by chokes are they green discs those are what I’m having difficulty placing

The power cord? It uses a Uniden style - like 3-pin but only has two connections.

Below are some photos to help...at least I think you're looking for this information,

The outside - they have it stamped on the case to help - the red is towards the side panel in this photo it is to the right...

Below? It's looking insdie towards the power connector cutout. Note Red is on the Right...

Bst I can do if it can help!

if you are not sure which wire going to the board is which, as in, which one is positive and which on is negative, then get your multimeter and set it to read continuity.

put one probe on any of the metal tuning cans in the radio. (these are the square silver box looking things with a tuneable slug in them.

then touch the other probe to one of the wires.

one of them will show continuity to the metal can. that is your negative.

if you look at the cord that you will be plugging into the back of this radio, you will see that it can only go in the connector one way due to the offset pin configuration.

knowing this, and knowing which wire is negative should be enough to get you through the repair.

I am not good at making the pics as Handy andy, but here is a link that might help you with what the power plug hooks to. the plug and parts are at the top of the pic. just click on it to blow it up might help you. it shows the 2 chokes that most of the radios will have off the power plug to the board.

here is the pic of the galaxy 33 which is the same as the radio you have.

Awesome that’s exactly what I needed !! I had no issue determining the polarity I needed to know where those diodes or which ever they may be the green discs were pulled away and wasn’t sure purpose or placement also my connex did not have that noise suppression devices bridged between the + & - wires is that standard on all cb radios or u add that on ?

The "black banded thing" It is a power protection diode used as a "first line of defense" against backwards hookups. Just as long as you use proper polarity - you're fine - the diode is designed to blow the fuse - it has to be hefty enough to do that - it's your sacrificial lamb when it comes to abuse of power hookups.

Noise suppression is your choice, its' what those green caps do - if you run mobile - the best advice I can give you is to remove the negative wire from the power cord and ground the radio at the radio - using a bracket or the ground to a permanent mount antenna that uses good ground - single point ground is the best choice to remove noise loops.

This radio you're using was originally set up for Negative Ground Only ignition systems - so the black wire was ground and so was the case - you don't have to use the black wire in the power cord UNLESS you make and use it (radio) as temporary or in a semi truck that you aren't sure what is grounded to what - as long as you used a metal ground like where you bolted the bracket - is ground - and so the radios case is grounded thru the bracket, and the negative black wire was also ground - used only if you needed to ground the radio elsewhere - like what you'd need to do if you put the radio between the seats - you need to route the power wires elsewhere to provide the power to the radio.

Anyhoo... again, the diode is for reverse polarity protection and the caps are for noise suppression - not really a big problem if you use properly mounted and grounded equipment. Only reasons it was there, when you bought the radio is; if you are new, and didn't recognize that Red went to the battery red positive, or fuseblock for positive - and black was for negative - prevent damage to the radio by carelessness was the reason for all the stuff in there.

If you're able to use the right end of a soldering iron, and rehook the power cords back up - you above the 90% of the others that just hook up the radio - maybe check the SWR and match it in and go. So the above may seem redundant but if it doesn't get said, people can think it's ok but get pissed when it doesn't work. This is for those that come in behind you and wonder what to do in similar situations - can get their radios and other equipment damaged if not hooked up right, when you are doing something that works specifically for your situation and they were not aware of it.

I see no garbage, andy n others are helping him

Ignore him. Mr. Mike is also know as CDX-304 who has made his views about this site rather well known here before. He has stirred up trouble on the air and on this site so therefore I have a feeling it will be a while before he returns and when he does..............
yes i kinda gathered that. But 1 like him makes it bad for all that mean well
