Here you go guys if I had a place I would not share this LOL

About that GI-7b.

Takes closer to 2kV to get any real power gain from it. A sweep-tube box that uses a full-wave doubler for B+ won't achieve that easily.

An amplifier that used a full-wave bridge to get 800 or 900 Volts can be reconfigured to use a full-wave doubler and get enough B+ for that tube. But only if the higher voltage doesn't exceed the insulation on the transformer's windings.

Easy enough to tell in advance. Take the HV winding's wires loose and put a couple of kV on them. If the insulation holds up, you're probably good to go.

That's how we converted this Eagle 525 for that tube.

It's a pretty invasive mod.

This one proved that it's more work than it's worth.

In one pic there are two VARMINT amps - oldies but goodies.

Yes, they do cut into your power bill and provide a house warming gift in return...
VARMINT just may be the dirtiest amplifier ever produced for any band. Most of the output went out on 50 mhz & it splattered the entire 11 meter band at the same time.
You look at one on a scope & wonder what is going on.

The big grey ones are some of the most powerful in the group. Those are tripple stage D&A Phantom's. As I recall they have six 6LQ6 finals and four 6KV6 drivers. I still think the most valuable amp in the whole group may be the weakest in output. That ECI black front and chrome case is exceptionally rare. Every other amp in the pile, I've owned or seen several over the years. Not once have I seen that ECI in person.

The tubes cost more than a house payment for most any of them.Sweep tube amps are outdated & not worth the retubing cost unless you convert them to a different tube like a 4CX250 maybe then they are worth the effort.

Nice work with that GI-7B. It seems the Eagle 525 was ripe for this type of mod because it's got the right transformer that can be converted with a doubler. I managed to put one 4CX250 inside the same box so it has similar gain and output as the two stages did with the sweep tube drivers. Definitely not worth the work unless you obtain the amp for free with beat 20LF6 tubes.

Humm st.joe??? 3 hour drive from my house...ahh never mind old tech

There is what looks to be an Excalibur or Sommerkamp Base (Saturn perhaps?) rack mount Base radio to drive them all.
