Ham Radio Deluxe (ICOM) news

It's "OK" software, but, HRD even under "new" management won't get any money from me.

YMMV

Or, depending on what radio you have, you can add one for less than $100, no permanent rig modifications requires, it just plugs in.

I use HRD but I wish they would spend some time speeding up the thing. I often use it with NAP3 panadapter and would like to see what they do for panadapter functionality. But I need it to support the K3, not Icom :)

You"ll still need an IF tap or other way to get the signal.

I been using HRD for years and I'm happy with it. I simply use SDRPlay with the free SDRUno software which I can run along with HRD simultaneously. My Kenwood TS590SG already is setup with a usable RF tap by patching into the Drive output jack and a menu setting determining the jacks output source.

Other radios without an easy IF out can use an ELAD switch box like I use for my Icom IC-7000 or I see MFJ makes a switch box (MFJ1708SDR). Otherwise an internal IF tap will have to be performed inside the radio.

I guess for convenience, it would be good to have a panadapter integrated into HRD for all radios, but for now I like SDRUno and SDRconsole which are both free!

Here's a pic of how I run HRD logbook/DX Cluster and Kenwood ARCP, with a panadapter from SDRUno. (I also use a virtual serial port software for unlimited serial ports along with the free Omni rig software to be able to accomplish this)
