Wow ! I been gone a few days & saw the direction this post was headed and by the time I got to the end of all the posts I figured I'd see " This post has been locked " ( or what ever it says ) The way I figure it is " Don't poke the Bear " ! Someday we will all learn that .IMHO:whistle:;)

On the subject of export radios.

You see a lot of people saying exports ain't worth it because you could get a good used HF rig for the same money, don't these people know that with a little patience it's not hard to pick up a good unmolested used 2950dx for somewhere in the $100-$150 range?

You could, I agree. But I think the guys who argue about HF rigs is because of the filtering and other things that the cheaper built exports just don’t have.

In my opinion, you’ll never get an export to perform like an HF rig, of much more money, can. If you think you can or actually can, then by all means show it instead of saying it. That disclaimer is there for one certain person, not meant for you StrangeBrew.

I like export radios, I own several. I have a Magnum S9 that I highly doubt anyone on this forum has enough money to buy from me. I have a brand new 2995DX that I like but it’s nothing compared to my FT897. I have a brand new 2950DX-CD, it’s alright but it’s not my 897. I also have an Anytone AT-6666 and an AT-5555 and again, no comparison to the 897. And the 756 Pro 3, none of the above can get close to it, especially in the receive dept.

If I’m asked then I give my opinion, my opinion.

Yeah but I’m just saying... I see nothing wrong with the export radios but they are what they are. I have less than $500 in my 897. I have just over $1100 in my 756 Pro 3. I have wholesale in my two RCI’s.

.... In my opinion, you’ll never get an export to perform like an HF rig, ....

With the exception of a very few individuals I think most of us already understand that, that's why a used HF rig usually costs upwards of $400. It just cracks me up how often people use the "same money" argument when comparing used lower end HF gear to new high power exports. If going used you can get a decent export for significantly less cash than an HF rig.
