During my wait at the Ford dealer for a rotation/balance......

Encyclopedia ! What a blast from the past ! We had to have going through grade school back in the Caveman Age . I remember my Dad getting my set @ a Local A&P grocery store , first volume was free then 99 cents a volume w/ purchase after that . Thanks for the memories ! Now we have " Google " to solve our questions . Maybe that's the problem ? But I don't think a day goes by I don't Google something . :ROFLMAO:

I think our set came from the A&P, or Piggly Wiggly, I don't know/ can't recall correctly. Probably due to all the glue licked off those little yellow stamps that got glued into those green books which helped pay for the Encyclopedias. I remember sitting down at kitchen table, dreading having to lick those things. Then having to take a butter knife and scrape my tongue.

My cousin lives in Cape Town, South Africa. She moved there after her brand new "husband" proved to be a certifiably insane, murderous individual (and yes he was certified as such). She packed her belongings and boarded a freighter ship in New Orleans. They had good accommodations for passengers. She told the captain that she was "going home", and she'd let him know when the ship arrived. As the ship arrived off the S. African coast, she saw Table Mountain through the fog. She knew she was "home". She found that the University of Cape Town was looking for a research librarian, and she'd recently graduated with a Masters degree in Library Science, specifically research of difficult subject matter. Yes, she got the job on the spot, which assured her dual citizenship. She still lives there but returns to the states every 5 years or so to stay in touch with family and her attorneys …. she's made quite a few good investments.

She confided to me a few years ago when I was chatting with her that she was glad she'd retired from UCT. Her job had been taken over by Google!
