External speaker recommendation

Mine is a harmon kardon. All name brand centers are going to have similar crossover characteristics as they are dedicated to voice.
Found mine on Ebay and seller delivered it to my workplace, $12. Cant go wrong there....

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually get satisfactory audio from a set of altec lansing computer speakers that I have. I kinda thought that a dedicated comm external would be even better. I just have to find an 3.5mm stereo to mono adaptor plug and get another set of these PC speakers.

Thanks M, for the moment I just moved my PC speakers to my radio. Sounds ok on rx but a some RFI does get into it during tx. Your recommendation looks like what I need but I will have to import. Shipping could be the deal breaker. I will try to see if I can source that in country.

Maybe you already know of these, but found them interesting.

All the Best

Thanks, I'm a plane ride away from those and they don't have an online or mail order system. Strictly face time with those stores.

I've been through one or two hobbies in the past and I've always preferred to import my gear. Local sourcing has always been my last recourse. For example, I imported my mfj949 tuner because with shipping and taxes it cost me around $260. If I sourced locally, it would have cost another $40.

Is there a reasonably good external speaker for around $50? Thanks in advance.
I purchased one from Radio Shack for my HF base and liked it so much purchased another one for my 11 meter base which I monitor. They are clear and not expensive. Seems like around 26.00 and are pretty large about 4" X 3 1/2" inch screen size. I would definitely recommend them.

If this is for a mobile set-up...
You can pick up a Motorola external speaker off ebay for around $20 or less...I have these in my mobiles and IMO are some of the best speakers I have had...You may need to replace the plug with a 3.5mmMONO plug tho because most of these speakers were wired to be plugged into company radios like Police and Fire vehicles....And when buying off ebay, be sure it includes the mounting bracket (some don't)

here's one:

I agree with above about bookshelf speakers. I use a center speaker from a Sony surround sound system. Believe it's a 3 Ohm. Has better sound than the Cobra High Gear Noise Canceling w/ Talk Back I actually spent money on.

And it was free. ;)

Followed a few links and found

KENWOOD KES-5

Mil-Spec for high noise environments. Audio quality said to be higher than comparable Motorola.

UNIVERSAL RADIO @ $45.

.
This is a very good speaker. I use one. You just have to solder your own connector.
