Knight safari 1 CB

Depending upon how far off frequency those crystals are, in many cases they can be tweaked back within reasonable tolerance. I have a set of PF trimmers, plus various sizes of wire wound inductors to add in series just for that purpose. If you need a little inductance to move the frequency in the desired direction, the small RF chokes that you commonly see on solid state CB boards will work great. Most of them will have around 20-40 turns on a 1 or 2 watt resistor sized form. I usually end up taking a few turns off at a time to tweak within usable range. A less stable option to be sure, but better than buying high priced custom made crystals.

They are a long way off. Some are 24 mhz & some are 25 mhz. I guess I could always do some 12 meter AM on those at 24 mhz. LOL Some are still pretty close & channel 19 is the closest to being right where it should be.

Graphics are a second hobby of mine so I don't have a problem scanning, enhancing or sending images in any verity of formats. I only wish I had what you need, but I’ll keep an eye out for a manual / schematic and let you know if I run across anything in the future. There’s DVD’s for sale on-line that lists many Knight Kits, but unfortunately the Safari I hasn’t made any list that I have seen yet. On the other hand if I did have that prized manual in my possession and didn’t have the means to copy it, I would set up a returnable deposit fee agreement between parties and use PayPal as the transaction medium. Just a thought…

I have not searched much for it & it's not a priority right now since the radio looks great sitting on the shelf being Pretty! {:>)

just to put it out there, i still have my knight safari 1 in a box somewhere, so i can look at it as a reference if someone needs it.

I might also still have the manuals, but i seem to have a faint memory of someone promising me that they would return them to me and...

let me know if i can be of some help.
LC

A copy of the assembly manual would be GREAT.

Wow! Several megs off frequency on some channels? If I seen that, the first thing I would look for is the possibility that some crystals were mixed up and placed in the wrong sockets. People sometimes did that deliberately in some of those old radios to create a so called private channel. A selector switch fault of some sort could be another possibility. Since it was a kit, the switch itself or the crystal sockets could have been wired wrong. That far off frequency usually indicates something other than a crystal that has simply drifted off with age.

I am not sure & I am not a technician so for now it will just look pretty on the shelf. Thanks for the input & God bless.
