If FCC gave CB 50 watts

I routinely help out CB'ers with antenna problems or matching problems with linears.
CB or ham I don't care I just like playing with radio gear.
If you CB'ers got the 50 watt wish would you quit sending out your radios for the
Dumbass Super Whack Pack screwed tune?

You know what they'd do. Get the Super Duper High Output Whack Pack with extree wattages! Why settle for 50 watts when you can have 52?

Agreed

The funny thing is, if people started using it these days, no one would probably even notice... or care...

I would like to see what a " Competition Whack Pack Tweak and Peak" would do on FM mode...

The Whackpac would result in no one hearing you.
If you increase FM devation too far it is wider than the pass band of your RX.
The whack pac guy is not around any more is he?

Back in 2010 I started a thread on this forum because the FCC had invited the public to comment on several rule changes that were proposed regarding CB .
The response was dismal.
Everyone likes to moan but hardly a soul would pick up a pen and paper or write a e mail to them to express what they thought.
The FCC rules are 45 years behind the times in regard to CB.
It is no longer the radio service that it started out as.
Like it or not it has become a hobby service.
The FCC needs to pull there head out of the sand and re write the rules to better serve the users of the radio service that it has become today.
BUT
The users of this service do themselves no favors by also sticking there head in the sand and saying
Oh the FCC will never listen to us
Blah blah blah.
The opportunity in 2010 has long gone.
Then in 2013 there was yet another opportunity to submit comments to the FCC about changes to the Cb, FRS and GMRS radio services.
This is the 1 that resulted in getting the 155 mile limit dropped for CB and made it legal to work DX.
Still the input from CB users was dismal.
You got to pay attention.
If you want change you have to jump on opportunities to voice your opinion.
This is why I said you are lucky they dropped the 155 rule.
I (we) use many radio services.
I (we) love to play radio.
All things radio.
I (we) hate it when things on the forum turn into you Hams do this or you CB'ers do that.
This forum and staff has worked very hard for many years to not let it go there.
I (we) encourage all users of radio to help each other out regardless of what kind of radio you like to play.
And have fun doing it.
Off the soapbox.

Health issues had me out of commission the last times the FCC opened up for comments. Next time please let me know. Your comment about the FCC philosophy on CB being out of date is spot on. I'd be willing to lend a hand in getting folks organized and making a well-organized push for reasonable reforms.

:eek:If FM became popular on 11m, the whack packers would only have to shift gears and keep going. People are so used to the AM swing of the watt meter, it won't be long before someone has the whack pack to make FM swing the watt meter with the modulation. Like amplitude modulated FM......

Shhh. Don’t say that too loud, we know who might be the first to try it or claim to have created it.
