Nah, no pissing contest. If'n he don't like he can get off'n my planet too. The "Sith Pimp" awarded me the Deed to planet earth for fixing his "Death Star" and tuning it all up.
The evolution of CB radio today has a lot to do with lack of enforcement. I'd like operators - regardless of what their licensure status is - to conduct themselves within the applicable rules. Naive, right? But whether on CB, ham or even FRS bands, the fact that we are all amateurs - some to a greater degree than others - doesn't mean we can't conduct ourselves like pros when running our stations. It is up to the station operator.
FCC enforcement could definitely help. In many geographic areas (fortunately, not in mine) CB became a mess - and in some areas still is - because of noise toys, dirty radios, amplifiers and jerk operators that spread like wildfire because initial violators faced no consequences. A little more rules enforcement would go a long way, but that would require budgeting that currently isn't in the cards.
That said, I'm glad they finally formally did away with the 250km limit. I get it. CB was supposed to be a local radio service and not a hobby. However, as others here have noted, it became a hobby 4 decades ago. It is nice that the rules are catching up with the times.

I am surprised by what I hear on skip. Here in Canada I do not hear the garbage I pick up from south east U.S.A .....I do not get the over modulation, makes no sense to me.On 6 AM their sounding crazy. Not even having conversations, just shouting nonsense. A clear mental health issue in my mind. These people are not playing with full decks. I find most Canadians and northern Americans running much better stations, clean radios, and having conversations, with moderate power. I would support rule enforcement for sure. I am lucky to live in a place where no locals run any power at all. Very few people on radio here, but there are a few, all legal stations in a 75 mile circle of myself. What I hear on the skip makes be glad to be where I am. Here in Canada nobody is enforcing the rules there is a guy about 90 miles out who runs 900 watts, he is not on often, he runs good clean radios, and talks with other high power guys even further out, no effect on me. But it does lock the channel, you can't ask for a breaker, because he can't hear my 12 watts 90 miles away. Just happy there aren't hundreds of him on all the channels.

May as well not be any power limit since there is not & never will be any enforcement. It will forever be the Children's Band because of the total lack of regulations & enforcement. So few actually comply with the rules that are there as it is & those who don't make it very difficult for those who do. It's a Lose Lose & it will never improve until all of mankind is Dead & Gone & then there will be a great sunspot cycle for nobody to enjoy or abuse the airwaves on.

Why would any not come to the obvious conclusion? Open it up to what it is actually being used for?? I can't even see how this is even open to debate in 2019. Just be glad people stop starring on the phone for 2 seconda and grab a mic..ohh sh1t.
