Kenrich Eagle 500-Next Patient

RLVAlleman,

very cool!

im sure ill come up with more questions, but the first one that comes to mind is have you worked on the Eagle VIII model?

i have one and have never seen nor heard of another.

The Eagle VIII was the last of the Eagle era, there weren't a lot of them made, it was more of a test run. At the time that design was finalized the federal government made us an offer we couldn't refuse, we could prove it was a legal transmitter BUT tying us up in court for the next 5+ years to prove it would break our small company.
We decided to design and manufacture C-Band satellite equipment which carried us through to the mid 90's.
Would love to see some internal pics when you have the time. (there was another company that tried to duplicate the VIII but failed miserably internally)

All,
Below is the next project for me. It belongs to the same friend as the Palomar Skipper300 and the Kris 600 SSB. Same repair deal as the other 2-He pays for parts and I have some busy work and a learning opportunity.
Story with this one is it is keyed up as soon as the power switch is turned on. Kind of hard to use as intended this way. It has fairly clean sheet metal on it and 7 original Kenrich branded 20LF6 tubes.

Stay tuned.

I used to build those for kenny out on nw expressway in Okla city back in the 70s . The first week I worked there all 8 could see on my way home from work was tube sockets . I dont know if anyone ever ran into trouble.with bad solder joints on the tube sockedb

But we got a batch of botched sockets. They didnt want to take solder they were going to throw them out but I found a a BBC quick way to get the pins to take solder.

i need to find out what the brown disc caps are down around the tubes. The schematic(CB Tricks)is blurry & it's not too good a situation inside the Eagle to see what thy are.

MusicODC,
The schematic on CB tricks shows a note at the bottom right corner that states:

Note: Across Grids on all tubes there are .001 Silver Mica Caps. Note shown on schematic.

I am sure these are the capacitors you are referring to. I have not had a chance to check the voltage rating on these yet but I would guess they are 1Kv or higher.

I'll wait to hear what you find out.... BTW, the 3 axial caps (actually all)are available through Mouser

MusicODC,
The Silver Mica capacitors in this unit are marked "102J" (or .001) but there is no voltage rating on them. They do appear to be original to this unit. Since they are attached across the grids of all tubes, I would think it would be safe to use 1Kv rated capacitors here.

Perhaps there are others on this forum with much more experience than I that would have more information.

Good Luck.

Good afternoon friends, I have that same linear and when I put it into operation in standby the needle of the wattmeter rises up to 500 wats but in operation the needle falls and does not give output wattage here we do not have many technicians for these teams I do not know if they can submit some verification thanks in advance

Welcome! Sounds like the amplifier is oscillating for some reason.

¡Bienvenidos! Parece que el amplificador oscila por alguna razón.
