Texas Star DX 500v power supply?

Only if you can turn it down to 14 Volts.

And if this one is a "competition" power supply that delivers 16, 18 or 20 Volts to the amplifier, the Texas Star will overheat and fail.

Fat Boy makes both regulated versions you can turn down to a safe voltage *AND* the unregulated versions that put way too much voltage on it to be stable.

Yes, there are amplifiers that can tolerate the higher power-supply voltage, but Texas Star is not one of them.

Thanks for the info nomadradio...the one I have is regulated and does 12- 16 volts. Should I go up to 75 or 100 to be on safe side?

EX 500V

Output Power with 4 watts input:
250 watts

Aprox. Power Output with 20 watts input/
Aprox. Max Current
500W/45A

These transmitters are designed for mobile or base, powered by the 12 volt vehicle battery or 12 volt regulated power supply

It will pull more than 45 amps. And even if it only pulled 45 amps, I would want at least a 60 amp supply for it. You don't want to run a supply that close to maximum all the time or it won't last very long.

Yes, go up to 75~100 amps if you can.
I have checked several Texas Star 500 amps, and they will easily pull 45 amps with very low input drive ( 4w dead key with 20w PEP).
I generally see these amps draw up to 62 amps with a high drive radio.
