Does anyone have any information / pros and cons about the Mosley DP-275-27 CB Antenna? Considering the cost, ($340.00) I am assuming the antenna material must be exotic / top secret (ha! ha!) and the fasteners / hardware must be gold plated.

MOSLEY is one of the oldest most respected antenna companies in the US. Top notch materials and pretty much built to say Mil-Spec quality. Never been disappointed with any Mosley product I have ever owned.

Thanks for the info! My mind is trying to decide (and justify) if a CB base station (non-beam type) antenna is worth $340.00 and will it out-perform my current I-MAX 2000.

will it out-perform my current I-MAX 2000
Most anything will out perform an I-MAX 2000. (anyone tired of hearing this yet?)

If you're stuck at vertical then a bit of schooling is in order.
It isn't manufacturer's claims or so called "real world experience"
What it comes down to is any gain you get has to come from somewhere else.
Generally I'm more concerned with where the nulls are. That being my complaint with the I-MAX.
The next issue is location and height and location.
Down in a hole a 1/4 wave up as high as practical.
Up on a hill with clear sight lines a 5/8 or 064.
If you have room look into endless varieties of wire antennas.

Unfortunately the price reflects this.

Wire antennas are cheap but the learning curve is steep.

Now a personal opinion: Build it , don't buy it. It's the only way to fit an antenna to your specific needs.

Look I even resisted the inevitable photo !! :ROFLMAO:

For that kind of money for a cb antenna I would go with an inteceptor 10k or a bm technology shockwave. Unless you run a stupid amount of power a 5/8 maco ground plane will do just as well.

I used to run the maco until I got scared of it arcing out and killing my tubes. The shockwave has been up for a few years now and I'm happy with it. I would have bought an I10k but they weren't available at the time.

For the most part a 5/8 wave vertical is a 5/8 wave vertical. The extra cost over a maco is paying for the name and/or quality of materials. I think workman makes a cheaper version of the maco but I know nothing of the quality.

The cost of Mosley's DP-275-27 seems a little "steep".
I cannot locate the avenue / source for the Interceptor 10K.
I've been researching information and pros and cons about the MACO 5/8.
I started in CB in 1966 with a simple aluminum ground plane antenna and a Lafayette HB???? base radio and life was good. I agree with the other folks that aluminum is "the way to go". Now, at 70 years old and recently retired, I unpacked my stored 2002 Grant XL and bought the I-MAX 2000 just to have something to do. At the time, the I-MAX 2000 was the "easy" route just to see if I would be interested in the CB world again. I've been talking skip a heck of a lot more than with the locals and this is why I am considering a different base antenna.
