Im looking to get a new HF rig . I’m undecided between 4 radios . The Yaesu ft991a , ftdx1200 , ftdx3000 and the Icom IC7300.
Looking for opinions , pros and cons on the radios listed above and which one would you buy and why .
Thanks in advance

Side by Side comparison 7300 vs Ftdx3000D... 3000D wins every time...quieter RX/ Better Adjacent signal suppression/ better noise reduction. My 15-year-old Yaesu FT-950 beat the 7300 also!

It seems like 2 out of every 3 contacts I make is someone on an IC-7300. And all sound great. Still, if I someday decide to change radios, I'll opt for the FTDX-3000 because of its size and look and the things BJ mentioned.
But right now, I love my Kenwood TS-590SG. (y)

I have the ftdx1200. It's a nice rig but I wish I had bought the 3000. The 3000 has a better receiver (same as the 5000) and an IF output. The IF output is nice if you want to connect an sdr receiver to it and have a band scope.

The 1200 has lights for vfo A and B but only one receiver. That was a disappointment but I should have read the manual before buying.

I don't have any personal experience with the 7300. They all sound good on the air but so do the yaesu rigs.

Are you looking for a radio that will be used mobile or moved around?

If the radio is just going to sit on your desk and not being moved around then the size (form factor) isn't an issue and the FTDX3000 would be a serious contender.

If the radio will be moved around then the IC7300 has some advantage.

You say HF radio but what bands do you operate on?
Do you need VHF?
Your previous posts mention Fatboy amps and roger beeps. So your interests and needs may not match with my radio preferences.

Mostly looking for a desk radio. UHF/VHF would be nice to have which was one reason i was leaning more towards the FT991a but not necessary beings I already have a 2 meter setup

The Fatboy amp and roger beep are irrelevant to this topic .

Have the FTDX3000 for a while now. Low noise floor, good close in rejection,tx audio
infinitely adjustable with built in eq.
Except for the TS-520S sold all my other HF radios, won't part with the old boatanchor.
If you notice there are a lot of 7300's for sale, 3000's not so much.

Just about any 100 watt HF radio sounds pretty much like any other 100 watt HF radio ,................... the difference is in the receiver.... and the 7300 fails miserably with close in
adjacent signals.

Good comparison between the 991A and 7300:

He repeated over and over, that he liked the 7300 screen better because it seemed "faster" and "clearer",...........

No wonder, he had the 991a set to 100K, and the 7300 set to 50k.

I couldn't see how fast he had the scroll speed set to.

All in all, this is just a "feel good" type vid.
YMMV
