Actually it's about a half a Pringles can. 8 turns of coax with fish tank hose for spacing. Clear Gorilla tape, with the sticky side out around the can to hold the coax and tubing onto the can, then another layer over the outside to seal the deal. I sell them for $99.99. Free shipping. Just kidding..

When it comes to chokes, the diameter of the form, number of turns, and spacing between the wires all make a difference, and the aluminum in the pringles can that Sp5it mentioned would also have an effect. These are also very narrow banded compared to other chokes. I wonder what frequencies this choke actually works on...

Core should be dielectric. Doesn't Pringles have aluminium layer?
Mike
Yeah, it's cardboard with an aluminum film on the inside. I was wondering if that would have an effect. My first one was made with PVC but I felt like it was too heavy. It has to be lightweight. I'll try again. This one's working, though. 1.1 SWR with my 9' whip, reduced noise, no more RF messing with my GPS and subwoofer amp.

That's the important part. I like to use a stack of ferrite beads around the coax for a mobile install. Less bulky so it can be hidden by the headliner if you use a puck with ring terminal connectors.

They have to be the right mix of ferrite for the frequency though. That's one of the things it's best to buy new and look at the datasheet.
