I had done testing before using my Ranger 296 and RM203 in the house.

I had used 6' jumpers to accommodate my shelf setup and wiring.. (had gone 6' down and 6' back up) I was able to whistle to like 110w or so max and my voice peaks were 40-60w with RM203 on in SSB mode which to me sucked.

Well I pulled my AT-6666 out to the truck for a good SSB mobile and brought the RM203 back in that was on my Cobra 29, this time I used my old short 18-20" coax from the truck and my output with the RM203 nearly doubled.

So here is my peak voice saying 590.. and then me with a whistle now at like 140w.. (y)

Much better. So sometimes maybe the jumper length does matter..

And with whistle.. about 140w

Coax length should have nothing to do with the results you are seeing. Something is wacky but it's not related to the length of the coax.

With out the amp in line or even connected I see a clear 8-11w on sideband with the same 590 being called. A whistle gets me like 13-14w or so. Which is inline for this radio I thought..

Maybe not coax related, just thought I'd mention it on here to see people's thoughts.

Does that radiohave a super wack pack. Maybe the radio is a little dirty and playing with the meter. Have you tried it with a dummy load?

Radio is factory setup. Had stock type tune done by DTB in PA.. AM is set at 1.5w dk by him also for amp usage as requested.

I am running an A99 at 40' to the 'tip'. always had same 1.2-1.3 SWR..

Ok I’m a little confused is it the any tone 666 that your seeing 140 watts with? Which seem right cause it’s a higher output radio maybe too much for that amp.

Anytine=140

Cobra=less

Ranger=?

All on same base antenna

Ranger 296DX (same as C148). With RM 203 on.. then it's 140w peak.. normal 80-110w voice..

Just mentioned moving the AT6666 to truck..

Sorry about that
