What was your worst investment?

Bought a mint TS-450 from Superhawk66 on ebay. It looked like a brand new rig. Once I got it it was a piece of crap. Dirty, scratches and dents. Smelled like Pall Mall and Beechnut. Obviously, the pictures were fake. He took it back and reimbursed my shipping. A few weeks later, he said he'd mail me a $20 bill, to revise my feedback. It didn't happen. I think that's why he always had good feedback. Cheapskate hams would accept his bribes.

This all happened before I knew who that clown was. Bummed me out, cause I'm still partial to TS-450's. One of my fave radios.

And I thought the ladies had a hard time staying on topic :) . It was funny that the opening post was about the worst radio purchase and it only took a few post to migrate to marriage... I'm the lucky one!!! I've been married for 33 years and it's still great.

Now to the worst radio purchase. I am torn with this question because there are a few. I have purchased a number of CB's off of E-Bay and I will say that most are not what I was hoping for. Only a couple (2 or 3) actually worked. It's amazing how many are hacked or have blown finals. Most of the radios I buy are late 70's side band rigs so I guess that should be expected. The one that has me the most frustrated though was not for money but time. I have purchased a number of drivers and finals in the last year to be used for bringing some of the radios back to life. I have set up a fairly extensive bench as a hobby only. Unfortunately, while I have had success making many repairs I was unable to repair any radio with transmit issues. I was actually ready to find a new hobby. Seriously!!!! As a last ditch effort I really jumped in to the issues only to find that EVERY driver or final I had purchased was fake. About $200 worth from 6 different sellers off of E-Bay. I recently purchased some from RF Parts and Barkett Electronics and guess what? I now have 5 radios up and running. My loss? $200, 8 months of time and confidence that I was able to do this. Hope is restored!!! Now to get these radios into the hands of my local CB community.
