Found a local deal on an 811. Only base amp I ever had was an old Johnson Viking. That was way long ago. I want to use it for 10 and 40. Will not be using a tuner. What is the absolute equipment I will need, beside the cable? I can make the interface cable. Do I need anything else? I want to be minimalist, but want to protect my rig and amp. I remember something about the older 590's having an amp keying issue, but the latest model doesn't.

I have the 590SG and also had the 590S. Neither one had a keying issue that I was aware of.

I do use the Ameritron ARB 704 as a protection buffer and simple 2 cable interface . Not really necessary but not a bad idea to use one.

You do have a menu settings for amp keying for relay on/off /delay on your radio.

You should be good to go!

The 704 is cheap enough, I suppose.

He wants $500 for the amp. Says for $75 more, he'll throw in a new set of 572's. Is this something I should get? Said they'd take more abuse. The amp hasn't been modified for 10, YET. He only used it on 75 meters.

Sounds like a deal!

Those tubes are easy to come by.

Just checking, you did order the Kenwood interface cable for the ARB 704?

It says it a universal buffer. One reviewer said it comes with necessary RCA cables. Ordered it from Amazon.
It takes a radio specific cable from ARB to radio. RCA cables are used from ARB to amp and ALC(if ALC is needed ).

No power cable needed

You need the PNP-7D cable

Yep, I just read that. I just ordered that cable. It should go out in the same order. I went ahead and told the dude I'll take those tubes. He got them from DX Engineering. Says their unused. Figured at that price, I could sell or swap if I end up not using them. Do these cables provide power to the buffer?

Thanks for catching that.

Looks to be in near mint condition. Very clean inside. Fan blades clean. Looks like it was a desk princess.

I didn't look for the green wire, but it's gotta be snipped.
