Well it appears that Dorian is going to intensify a bit between now and landfall here in Nova Scotia tomorrow. The latest forecast has it as a category 2 or at least a very strong category 1 straight thru landfall and into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence sometime overnite Saturday or early Sunday morning. Hurricane Juan in September 2003 hit us as a Cat 2 but diminished quickly to a cat 1 and then as a tropical storm by the time it passed. The damage along the coast and in the city of Halifax was heavy. This is looking to be a bit stronger. I got the truck fuel tank filled today and have about 15 gallons of fuel for the generator which I ran up and checked today. Removed everything that could be moved from the yard and tied everything else down. Dropped the Hustler 5BTV and tied it to the sawhorse so it will still be usable after the storm. Not much more to do but sit back and wait. The wife is doing an overtime shift at the hospital tomorrow and I will likely take her to work and pick her up after as she will be getting off pretty much about the time it is forecast to peak in intensity here. Depending on other's she may not even get home if too many call in for the night shift. Such is life when you save lives for a living.

Passed Off Shore here in RI . We got .1" of rain here in Coventry , Highest wind gust I recorded was 42 MPH , one gust on the coast was 58 MPH ( highest recorded in Ri ) still a little windy here today . Stay Safe Capt ! 73 & God Bless . Leo

Downgraded a bit to a strong cat. 1 now. It is still forecast to maintain that status until it makes it way across the province into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence overnite into tomorrow morning. Just a gentle rain at the moment and the leaves are hardly moving. Another 6-8 hours however and things will be different.

Well it wasn’t too bad here so I hope it’s not rough on you. It’s been a pest for sure, it’s taken it’s sweet time everywhere it’s been. It definitely gets the award for most annoying storm in my book.

Good luck CK.

Just heard a guy a while ago from Nova Scotia on 38lsb said his antenna was 4 ft off the ground because he dropped it down for the storm. Was that you? Seems to be some hurricane skip going on.

Not unless a time warp occured. Haven't done 11m in 25 years. Storm ungraded again to category 2 at landfall. I am about 30 miles from the eye but still pretty wild out there. Lost all power about 7 hrs ago. About 350,000 customers without power here in Nova Scotia at the moment. The eye has passed and we should now be on the backside of things. Power crews called back until weather improves due to safety issues.
